Lesson Learned: Don't try to be early on EMH morning

Animal Kingdom at RD should be very manageable with no FPs. DHS seems like it would be the least effective park to be at (even at RD) with no FP possible because you have them reserved for later at a different park. You would probably need to go directly to TSMM at RD to ride standby and use single rider at RnRC. As long as standby lines for ToT and Star Tours aren't too bad, this might work well. But I'd be very nervous showing up to DHS, even at RD knowing that I would not be able to get a FP for ANY of the rides.

Agree with this. If you have a Park Hopper, AK plays no part in FP+, and Epcot plays a very small part.

I sometimes like to have breakfast at one of the monorail resorts and then go over to MK. Is this still feasible on an EMH day if staying offsite? We don't always care if we hit rope drop or not but I'd hate to be stuck at the TTC too.

Just to say, I try to go to the park that had EE the day before. And I am a resort guest.

It's been the suggested way of doing things for years and years and it still works. Similar "get there early" threads about Disneyland for years. Still, it works. Knowledge like this doesn't change human behavior, and the majority of vacationers don't want to get up early and don't want to do research for a trip. :)

Yeah maybe that it just seems crazy to me that if you know certain things will drive you nuts on your trip, why you wouldn't do the the research to avoid them. But agree the majority will not research. Also agree with a prior point that most will not get up early for rope drop or slightly after, even though they know it's the lowest crowd time.

That's not a thing. Let's not allow that to be a thing.

People were reacting to the OP. Reacting with shock. That's not "shaming" and it's especially not "word-shaming" (omg please make that nonsense stop). It's *reacting*. So some people didn't do it gracefully. Been there done that, that's for sure! Sometimes you're just too stunned.

Literally what you said was:

No age of DD, no stroller mentioned, no four other members. Just you and DD.

Then it sounds like your day was perfect and awesome? So why would we want to *avoid* what you did? If it worked out beautifully?

Nope. It's to always quote the original post(er). :)

Has anyone said transportation was shut down? What I've read repeatedly in the thread is that they check and don't let you go through if you aren't eligible.

I haven't read that they don't, as a rule, have things shut down. They just check to see who can go through.

Pretty sure that the MK beam is not running since I think OP mentioned they were held at TTC.. So for day guests it may be shut down.

Because of that, they may not allow day guests in the resort beam otherwise it would overwhelm it when resort guests try to use EMH.

The question is if they will let resort guests access or if maybe they get directed to the Poly.

But my comment was based in what OP said in her post, that they were held while EMH was going on.

What if an offsite guest has an early ADR at one of the resorts?

That's what I don't know. Hope someone chimes in. I wonder the same thing myself. I was just clarifying how the discussion came to the monorail being shut down. For OP, it was the Express monorail that was not open.

If by chance it is no access, the only suggestion I have is to walk to the poly and catch the monorail. If both are down, not sure the alternative.

Maybe ask on the Transportation board?

I think if we had tried to do an emh evening, then get him out of bed to try and rope drop the next day- or even wake him up before he naturally woke up, we would've had a very cranky boy. He didn't sleep terribly late the mornings after, but later than his normal 6-7am waking time.

I'm glad to hear he handled it so well. DD shown herself to be a bit more of a nightowl since we last went to Disney, so I think she would probably do just fine, but it'll likely depend on whether she naps or not. She's 3, but still naps sometimes. When she does nap, she's definitely a night owl. When she doesn't, though, she crashes around 8:30p. She naturally wakes around 8:30-9am, generally (whether she napped the day before or not). She actually woke up on the 4th of july at 8:45..I picked her up to cuddle for a bit, and she fell back asleep on me and was out like a light until 10:30am. needless to say there was no napping that day, so she crashed earlier :) With her always naturally waking late, we'd never even consider late EMH followed by RD. We all value sleep too much for that ;)

OP, it seems when you wrote your original post your perceived wronging was fresh and you were frustrated because you were caught off-guard. Here's the thing, though. By getting to the TTC ahead of most other non-resort guests, you were still at the front of the non-resort line, you were just waiting in a different place. If you knew you wouldn't be able to get in the park until 9:00, what difference does it make where you were waiting? WDW was keeping the entrance to the park clear for the people that have paid for the privilege to be there for EMH to be able to fully take advantage of that opportunity. You were among the first of the "regular" guests to get in and by your own admission, by being there early, you had a great day and experience. I truly don't understand what you are so angry about. Did you think if you were able to take the People Mover to the entrance and forced to wait there for 45 minutes it would have been less hot? Did you think that your daughter would somehow be less miserable waiting for a long time in one place rather than another place? Your indignation just doesn't make sense.

He still naps as well- almost without fail. He is almost impossible to deal with if he misses one- yet another reason we always take an afternoon break. He can stay up half the night, but let him skip an afternoon nap and he falls apart.

I think the issue is that they missed the rope drop?

Thanks for the tip OP, we were planning on using a day while staying offsite.

Bull. Nothing said in the original post was so "shocking" that it deserved that kind of "reaction". There were quite a few comments that were made for the sole purpose of trying to make the OP look dumb "for breaking the #1 rule of non resort guest not going to a park with EMH", which "everyone" knows.

She didn't seem angry at all in the OP. She just wrote it as a tip to other people that may not be aware. Anger didn't come into play until she was met with so many rude condescending responses

This thread needs to be intertwined with the "admit it, you've been that rude guest" thread :rolleyes1 But I'm sure some PM apologies have been exchanged.

Actually no, lol. But I did recieve one from a very nice member, apologizing for ALL the rude comments I got :) Just not from any of the people that made them, lol.

So did anyone even answer what would happen as a non-resort guest who opted to drive to MK vs taking the bus? I would think they'd still have the monorail running before/during EMH, or at least have the resort monorail stop at the TTC, no?

We were that guest :) Which was basically the point of my post - when you're a non-resort guest, it doesn't matter if you drive or not, you have to go to the TTC first, and they will not let you use the monorail or ferry boats until 8:45. So it doesn't matter how you get there, you do not get to go any further than the TTC until that time.
