We are flying to Orlando tomorrow on Delta!!:cool1:

I am packing now and want to make sure my carry on is ok. If I have a 2 oz sunblock and very small ear drops for my son, (he needs them whenever he gets water in his ears, prescription from the doctor), and a lip gloss, do they have to be in separate baggies, or can they go in one clear baggie? Also, is there a limit of how many under 3 oz liquids you can bring on your carry on?

Thank you for your help!

To be clear it's the size of the container that counts, not the amount of liquid. 2oz, in a 4oz bottle IS NO GOOD.

Other then that you're limited to however many bottles you can fit in your one quart baggie.

Medical exceptions can be seperately declared but if they're less than 3oz and will fit in your baggie just combine them.

Each person can have one quart size zip baggie with their liquids as long as each bottle inside the baggie is less than 3oz. I think it also depends on your airport. I've flown several different airports and some will let me bring a 4oz bottle with only 2oz and some make you pitch it. Better off having 3oz bottles to save hassle. Better yet, check it.

Prescription medications, baby formula, juice and milk (when traveling with an infant or toddler) are allowed in reasonable quantities exceeding three ounces and are not required to be in the zip-top bag

hth!

I have taken my makeup bag which is clear and had no problems. I was going to stick it in a ziploc, but TSA said I don't have to since it is clear. All my makeup is one ounce or less containers

With notable exceptions for medications and infant/toddler milk/formula, TSA's so-called 3-1-1 rule is quite clear:

3 ounces or less -- each container of liquid/gel must be 3 ounces or less

1 quart-sized clear plastic zip-top bag -- the containers must fit comfortably in that one closed bag

1 bag per ticketed passenger

Check out www.tsa.gov for all the details if you're still unclear.

Any suggestions on how to tell whether the containers are comfortable? :teacher: I have always assumed mine are relatives of sardines.

Have you tried just asking them? If your containers are screaming in pain from the time you zip the bag closed until you open it at your destination, odds are they are VERY uncomfortable ;)

I have heard reports of the TSA people being very picky about the type of bag you use....I wouldn't try using anything other than a clear, qt. sized zip-loc baggie. I would hate to get to the security line and have any problems. This is the big issue I have with the TSA...there doesn't seem to be 100% consistency. No wonder people get confused.

If you can easily see what is in there, then you should be fine. Nothing crammed on top of other stuff, so that they are obstructed...at least that's my take on 'comfortable fit'.
