LESS THAN THREE WEEKS AND DISNEY SWITCHED OUR EMH MORNING!!

Was this ever answered? I couldn't read the whole thread, but I'm confused about this too. Is this DEFINITELY a new Magic Morning or whatever they're calling it? Or was it just a case of EMH hours being swapped? Because an ADR would still be honored, even if the park is closed - just like they let people in through the specific gates on normal mornings when there's no EMH if you have an ADR. And if you had a FP selected for that time, well, it's not needed. Handy, yes, but morning FPs are pretty much a waste since standby goes about as fast as the fastpass line until about 9:00-10:00.

It does suck when plans get altered at the last moment, but it's easiest to make the best of it, complain if you feel it's warranted, and put it behind you. People complain about Disney A LOT on these boards (surprising, really, considering), but in general they do try to make it right and their customer service is still the best in the business. People state on here all the time about money grubbing executives (I haven't read the whole thread, but it wouldn't surprise me if that topic has popped up here as well), but for being a business, they do seem to genuinely care that their guests are happy. I've never seen another company with even a fraction of the profitability that Disney has, go the extra mile the way they do so often.

Hopefully that falls in your favor as well, if you called or emailed, and it all works out for you. Regardless, I hope you have a wonderful trip!!

Agree.

April 15 is currently the only Friday that has had morning EMH switched to another day. Not sure that means it has been moved to make way for a Magic Morning. But it does indicate they haven't set aside all Fridays for Magic Mornings. What they'd really have to worry about is whether this is regarding a corporate or private event that might mean no access for ADRs or cancellation of ADRs.

Oh WAIT - didn't think to look at May. No Morning EMH on Friday, May 13. It is on Tuesday, May 10 for that week. All other EMH mornings at MK for April and May are on Fridays.

It does stink that they switched things up............but as others have pointed out..........this isn't the first time Disney has done that. I do enjoy planning but I do try to leave some slack just in case something happens. How does that 1 hour ruin the entire day? Not trying to be a jerk..........but I'm curious.

I've had EMH change like this. Not this close, but close enough where it made rescheduling things a bit of a pain.

It sucks...but at the same time, first world problems of the highest order.

Not only are they choosing to limit staffing, but they are choosing to limit staffing at a time of record profits. That's the part most of us just can't get past. This isn't post 9/11 where they are cutting because the economy crashed. This isn't 2008 where they are cutting because the housing market collapsed. This is significantly cutting staff at a time of record profits and attendance.
I've read recently where this is about the overruns at Shanghai Disney...............the parks division has been told to cut back. Also, if they're having record attendance where's the motivation for them to change. Whether we like to believe it........those of us on this board a probably less than 1 percent of those attendance figures. I appreciate how cynical those statements are............but as Pete says.............this is a capitalistic society. :guilty:

Scheduling (or updated information on schedules) seems to be an issue. We were there for a week starting 3/18. Opening hours for MK consistently showed 9 AM on the official site. I checked a number of times close to our arrival. Even after a 7:30 AM BOG became available for 3/21 the WDW website showed a 9 AM opening. Of course once we arrived we found that on a number of days MK was opening at 8 AM. Didn't really impact our plans but it would be nice to have accurate info for planning.

I recall early openings being added at the last minute previously, before My Magic Plus and all this. For MK, not for the other parks.

I completely feel your pain! I've been planning like crazy for our trip in April. We are staying off-site so I got up every night at midnight 30 days prior to each visit day and got my FP+. Since we are staying off-site, I planned all my park days for the days WITHOUT EMH so that we would have the lowest crowds. Well hours after I scheduled our FPs for HS, Disney switched their EMHs for HS and EP and now the day we're going has EMH and is the least recommended park. It's frustrating because HS was the only park I scheduled a character meal and I had the fast passes I wanted. I had planned for us to get to the park and rush to Jedi Training sign-ups for my boys. I don't really want to change parks now because we already have all our reservations and FP+ for all our park days. It's super frustrating and now I'm afraid we will not get to sign up for Jedi training because all the EMH guests will have taken all the slots. I will have two very sad boys!

Anyway, all that to say that I understand how you're feeling! It's frustrating when you spend so much time training only for them to change things right before your trip!

There is no way I'm changing our Be Our Guest reservation for dinner. We would never get another one.

I did look at last years calendar and it had MK opening at 8:00 or 8:30 for June. Right now they have it at 9:00.
