@mamabunny Thank you for the very kind comments and offering of support. Your letter to the LO really moved me and I used some of the talking points and support from it to convey the need to be careful and to make the best of the situation for everyone in our latest conversation. We'll see if it helped.
@ttintagel Thanks for the tip regarding benches. I was surprised when the CM suggested the seating in shaded areas but I didn't remember seeing or sitting on many benches last year. Ledges, yes. Benches, no.
@gap2368 We saw the cooling towels last year but didn't try them. We have some larger cooling camping towels and a bandana that we've got packed for this time. But we might end up buying one at Disney if we are hit with super hot weather. Or we'll just find A/C or return to the resort of rest and pool time to cool down. I found the clip on fan you suggested on clearance so we'll see how that works too.
@SueM in MN Thank you for the analogy and support in talking points for when speaking with the CM. It is really helpful to understand the best way to try to express the situation to them when we go to Guest Services. I didn't feel like it went very well or they weren't understanding the situation when I spoke with the woman on the phone. We'll try again at the parks and see if we might be able to reach some sort of accommodation. We'll survive if we don't. Ways to work around it and acceptance that we will be going with the flow and pacing ourselves day by day and even hour by hour or minute by minute. But I loved how you put it with points. Often LO will think they're doing OK and then after showering and getting dressed by spent for a good bit. So explaining how small things even deduct points from the day and how as we go further into the trip we'll be at more and more of a deficit each day really helps and it's nice to hear from someone else who understands the situation and how that all works! Really.
@wilkeliza LO isn't that into characters but enjoys stuffies. I had been contemplating some Star Wars toys or tshirt bribes ... or the Build a Droid (which is another thing that has been saved up for -- but might offer to pay for it instead) -- and possibly a Lego Store trip and very small budget to get a set (are the sets there more expensive than regular Lego?). I'd even contemplated having the Star Wars Goofy Darth Vader delivered in room with a plea to pace and listen to the body and accept help without being too stubborn this trip. Make it the Jedi way ... or Sith way. Other than that dinosaurs are the big thing. And generally the Pixar movies. There's still some favorites but really outgrown the fever about things like Mickey and Co.
