Whoops! Wrong board, sorry. Mods could you move this to the Community Board? Sorry again!

Which Rand books have you read?

I have a confession, whenever I read a really "heavy" book I usually start a fluff one at the same time.

I read Atlas Shrugged a few summers ago and read it along side of Judith McNaught romance novel.

Thats funny! If I ever read any more Rand I'll read The Walking Dead or World War Z as a balance and root for the zombies :lmao:

Wow, Atlas Shrugged X 2! Wow! I read it last year, just once. But I shrugged in 2006.:thumbsup2

Aldous Huxley in college, but think I need to read Brave New World again.
And Steinbeck, in HS I read a few. I was not a fan of Steinbeck.

I never read Ayn Rand, but I've read Brave New World over and over. It is my favorite dystopia--I greatly prefer it to 1984. John Steinbeck was a superlative author. Grapes of Wrath has to be among the top ten American novels ever.

My teens have started to read Jane Austen and the Brontes, yum!

Are there any Vernor Vinge fans out there?

I haven't read any of his books. Do you have a suggestion? I'm going to the Library today.

Grapes of Wrath was amazing. I think of the story often these days, it really was wrenching.

I read The Fountainhead a couple of years ago. I thought I was re-reading it, but I guess I wasn't, because none of it was familiar. And after finishing it, I realized I couldn't have possibly been re-reading it, because I immediately swore to never, ever read it again. :sad2:

I read Fountainhead also, didn't like it either. It was also a movie, didn't like that either.

The same thing happened to me but I only got through the first chapter. ;)

I've read all Rand's fiction. Honestly, Atlas Shrugged changed my life, I thought Fountainhead was crap, and my favorite, honestly, was Anthem. It's very short and sparse, but I loved the basic plot idea. I'd have loved to see it spun out into a longer novel.

We the Living was ehh.
