Lesli's Live Long and Strong WISH Journal

The party is over. Thank God. It turned out well, but it was a lot of work and usually, I have DD18 around to help, but not this year. So looks like I need to replan when and how I do certain things.

The day started ok, but then I opened up the Tinkerbelle item I was going to use as a cake topper and it was broken. The Disney store wrapped it incorrectly and then put some heavier items on top of it in the bag. I was so upset that I cried. I am pretty creative, but when that piece was broken I was at a loss which is unusual for me. Thankfully, DH's brother was willing to run down and get it replaced, so all turned out well.

The party went well and much to my surprise, my dad was here, which was really nice.

AM snack was missed. Lunch was 4-5 Tostitos and enough taco dip/salad to fit on those. PM snack was missed since we had an early supper. But I did have a taste of the cake and frosting just to make sure I was serving quality before all the guests dug in. ;) Supper was 1/2 bowl homemade potato soup, 2 sm slices of pizza, and salad. That was followed by a piece of cake. Later in the evening, I had some taco dip/salad and tositos, plus another piece of cake. Water was horrible and my fingers definitely show it today. Yuck!

Began working on costumes.

Breakfast: 4 mini chocolate donuts (they were there and easy so I could continue cleaning up)
AM snack: 3 slices of ham
Lunch: pizza and salad
PM snack: yogurt
Supper: soup and salad (or I might switch supper and lunch)

Goals for day:
1. WATER
2. 1/2 hr on putting things away in my office (some things belong in other parts of the house)
3. Little bit of GS
4. Costumes

I just heard that a "fitness center" is going into a store front in town. This is a very small town, so I don't expect it will last long and will be surprised if it does. The plus side is that being operated by the doctor who already owns the building, so it might last awhile. Also, I am just a few blocks away so I can actually have a chance to work out on equipment. :cheer2:

Time to go. Everyone have a wonderful day! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Yesterday was a little stressful. We had a GS meeting for the older girls, I did get a little organizing done, but not in my office......a few kitchen cupboards. Also worked on costumes.

Food followed plan for the main meals for the most part, but in between wasn't so good. I think ate two pieces of cake and polished off 6-7 donuts throughout the day. Lunch was 4 pieces of pizza. Supper was a bowl of potato soup. Late, I had some popcorn. Water was so so

Breakfast: 1 egg omelet w/mushroom, onion & moz, yogurt, and ham
AM snack: banana & milk
Lunch: salad
PM snack: cheese
Supper: HC soup (probably after trick or treating)

Goals for day:
1. Get in all my water
2. bills
3. straighten house
4. have fun w/ family tonight

Gotta run. DS and I are going shopping for some black clothes to finish off his black cat costume, then I have to be back to help DD8 get into her costume at school. The rest of the evening is trick or treating and going to a Halloween party for younger kids.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN everyone! Hope you have a great day.......and back away from the candy! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Happy Halloween to you too! I am staying as far away from the candy as I possibly can!

Happy Halloween to you too! I hope you had the kids have fun!

Sorry I've been MIA. It sound like the party went really well--I'm so glad you all had a good time and that you were able to balance the pizza out with some nutritious soup and salad.

That's great that you're getting a fitness center close by. Who knows, it might last for a while, especially if it's the only game in town. I hope you get a chance to use it--it will feel great!

Have a wonderful day today! Step away from the candy... :teeth:

Updates on the challenges: I lost 6 lbs, since starting the Lighter by Halloween challenge. However, the Lose 5 for October was only 1/5. This was definitely the slowest month I have had since starting. I did increase my exercise though and ended the October Exercise Challenge with 600/500. Looks like I need to work a little harder on losing some more.

Yesterday was fun, but a lot of running around and I straightened the pantry along with some other cleaning. My goal is to straighten each drawer or closet as I open them for the next week just to get them back into shape and that way it really won't take a lot of time out of my day to get that task done. I finished up DS's black cat costume. He wouldn't show anyone until we went to DD8's school to show her and her friends. I was a little early getting there to help her get into her costume and she was eating lunch. It was so cute, because she started to share her lunch with him.

We carved pumpkins after school. Then went trick or treating with the youngest, while DD16 and friend passed out candy. We are usually only out about 40 mins. Just enough to make the rounds to all the family in town, the store, and a few neighbors/friends. Not alot of candy, but more than enough to last a few weeks. After that we went to the community Boo Bash to play a few games. I think we were home by 6:30, so we passed out more candy. The rest of the evening I relaxed.

Unfortunately, I had a double whammy yesterday. The rim on my glasses broke and then later I lost one contact. Can't figure out where I lost it.

Food. Lunch was taco dip/salad with tostitos. Supper was part of a hotdog, some chips, cauliflower, and a cookie. Followed later by 4 sm slices of pizza. I will not even begin to count all the candy I must have inhaled. TOM is part to blame, the other part is just not paying attention to what I am eating. Thinking later rather than before I eat.

Breakfast: WW flakes & fiber cereal (something new to try), ham
AM snack: banana & milk
Lunch: salad
PM snack: probably some type of desert (served during the tea part of DAR meeting)
Supper: chicken, green beans, salad & maybe rice

Goals for day:
1. water
2. stick to food plan. If I feel like I am going astray walk away for 5-10 minutes and do something else. Drink water instead.
3. Bills
4. Family Christmas invites in mail (this is an extremely large gathering of DH's family)
5. Bookwork

Time to get going. The day will be slipping away soon. I have a DAR meeting this afternoon, but other than that I am playing catch up/clean up on my office. Tomorrow, I would like to start in on changing the bedrooms around.

Everyone have a great day. This is a new month and a time to start fresh on the weight loss journey. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

The little black cat costume sounds so cute! I'm glad you guys had a fun evening and even got some time to relax later.

We won't talk about the candy here either :rolleyes1

Sorry to hear about your glasses and contacts! Both in one day?!? I hope that's not supposed to be a message or anything... :earseek:

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Hi Lesli!

Wow a glasses and contacts emergency in one day! Sounds like there was something the universe did not want you to see clearly today! :)
Glad to see you are still doing more every day than I feel like I do in a week! :)

Have a great wednesday!
Mike :goodvibes

Hi Lesli
Had a bad weekend myself just start again the next day. Look at you recent WISH challenges all of them are going the right direction.

Russ

Thanks everyone for stopping by.

Still have the problem with the glasses/contact. I wear the glasses at home since the will sit in place for the most part. But then I wear the one contact when I am out and about. Thankfully, it is for the weakest eye so I don't really have much problem seeing without the other one, but it is driving me nuts. The lady at the Dr.'s said she would mark the file ASAP and someone would call. Still hasn't happened.

Yesterday was very productive. I actually have a really walking path in my office. Got caught up on all the bills. I didn't get my invites done, but I do plan to finish them today.

For the most part food wasn't too bad until later. But then I just about skipped lunch which didn't help. Worked through the AM snack and lunch. So on the way to the meeting, I grabbed a slice of pizza. PM snack was a piece of pumpkin dessert of some sort (at the meeting). Then I had some ham and cheese when I got home. Supper was 2 bowls of chili. Way too much and I was way too full. I had to make room in the freezer and reheating the chili was the easierst way. 2 crackers w/ PB followed. Later, I had 2 pieces of candy and a piece of cake. I almost made it through the day. Water was pretty good.

Breakfast: 1 egg omelet w/onion & moz, ham
AM snack: yogurt or banana
Lunch: DH wants to go out, but I don't know where we will end up
PM snack: carrots
Suppper: soup. I have to eat early since I have a meeting tonight

Goals:
1. Keep up on the water
2. stay away from the junk food
3. make time for a real meal

I will talk to everyone later. Time to get the payroll done so we don't have a mutiny.

Have a great and wonderful losing day! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Yeah, folks are usually a little touchy about getting paid.. :teeth:

Sorry to hear your glasses/contacts issue is taking a little while to get resolved. Hopefully they can get you in soon!

I hope you have fun at lunch with DH! It's so great that you guys seem to do that on a regular basis.

Have a great day! :sunny:

Yesterday was horrible in terms of food and stress. I did get quite a few things done, but DH and I are having some major communication problems and obviously it is really stressing me out. So needless to say, lunch was a bit strained. We even had an argument last night which is very rare for us. If it wasn't for leaving for the meeting, I would have left to go shopping or something.

No matter what I say anymore, he says that I am correcting him or showing him up. Lately, there have been a few times when we were having a conversation and I explained what something that he took as a correction. Such as we (but he says he) were talking to DD16 about starting to think about collleg. He said that DD18 missed going to Washington U because she missed a deadline or she could have gotten in and he commented on early decision. The comment on early decision was incorrect, but a common mistake and so I proceeded to explain what it meant, so that DD16 would understand. I also mentioned that DD18 didn't miss any deadlines, she just chose not to accept early decision and why. I thought we were having a conversation. He says I am correcting him. Says that he didn't care to know what the process was that the point he was trying to make to DD16 was that she needed to start thinking about college now.

And so it goes on like that all the time now. I just shouldn't open my mouth I guess. He's tired of me being gone all the time, but will only complain about it. Then pulls the double standard (much to my surprise) that I have too much to do for a woman. If it was a man doing all that I am doing, it would be their vocation, not their avocation.

Since when did he believe that?

Gotta go, I will post more later. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Ok. Yesterday's food.

Missed the AM snack. Lunch was a baked potato w/mushrooms, onions, broccoli, cauliflower and cheese. PM snack was too much candy. Supper was a hamburger & Heath blizzard. At the meeting I ate too much candy and anything else that crossed my path. I just didn't care.

I am so tired and I want to get out of some of these responsibilities, but we are in the middle of a year and I conciously can't just chuck it all and say oh well. Yet, I do need to do something and quick. My first instinct is to quit everything and just stay home taking care of the family. Of course, then DH will tell me that I need to find something for myself. It never ends. My second thought is to bow out graciously. Tell everyone that I will not continue on with anything in a few months and someone else will need to step up. My third thought is to figure out exactly what I enjoy doing and bow out of everything else. I suppose that is the ultimate option, but it is going to mean shaking things up again to get that done. As for GS, that means that I will probably make some people mad as I try to streamline things by the end of the year so that not just one or two people are doing everything and so that we eliminate a lot of repetition. I was hoping to do this after the first of the year, but looks like my sanity says I need to do it now.

Enough ranting. I did come to the realization of why I am so busy now where I wasn't as busy earlier in the year. One reason is the lost weight and increased energy. The other and probably most important is because DD18 left for college. I think that I kept myself really busy so that I could make the adjustment for myself even easier, at least mentally. Physically, it is wearing me out.

Breakfast: egg, sausage and cheese croissant (it was terrible)
AM snack: goldfish & yogurt
Lunch: soup
PM snack: banana & milk
Supper: chicken & stir fry veggies

Goals for day:
1. Water
2. Try to destress

I have already been up to the eye dr. with DD16 and back. Checked on my contact replacement while I was there and no one knew anything about it, which made the Dr. mad. So she put a rush on it and is having it sent overnight to my house. Hopefully that means tomorrow.

Good news. DD18 got her tuition waiver through ROTC. :cool1: She is so happy. HOWEVER, she can't register for next semester since the school hasn't received her official ACT scores. I guess what the high school sent was unofficial. DD18 said she tried a month ago to correct this and had ACT resend the scores, says the fee was debited from her account, but the college hasn't received them yet. So now she is running around trying to get that taken care of so she doesn't miss out on some classes, which could throw her off.

Time to go. Thanks everyone for listening. Have a great day! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Congrats to your DD18! You must be so proud. Hopefully the paper chase is over soon and she can get the classes she needs!

Your lunch sounds very yummy. Did you make it yourself or was it from a restaurant?

I'm sorry to hear your extra responsibilities are wearing on you. I really hope you can find a way to offload at least some of it. I hope folks realize how lucky they are to have you willing to take all of this on. Sending some :wizard: your way to help you work it out.

Have a great day!

The scale is moving its way back down again after all the junk I have been eating. A few more lbs and I will be back to my ticker. Yes, again.

Yesterdays food was horrible. AM snack was just goldfish. Lunch was late, so I ate a LC Seasame Chicken, which was pretty good. PM snack, more goldfish, some candy, a couple bites of cake. Supper ended up being pizza, of which I had 5 sm pieces, then followed with almost a whole bag of popcorn later. Boy, have I gotten myself really off track.

At least, I did manage one thing, that was to de-stress. I talked to DD18 a number of times as we tried to get things at the school worked out so she could register. Finally, after doing things on this end and her doing things on that end, she went in to admissions to ask them to remove the block and they said that they just removed it since they realized her ACT scores had been there after all. OK. It was pretty much DD18's first lesson in how sometimes you can waste a whole day trying to get things straightened only to find that it really was a waste of time, but someone just didn't bother to double check their work. Oh well, at least she managed to get registered.

The rest of the day, in between calls, I played a game on the playstation. Not something I get to do often, but a great way to think about nothing, keep your hands busy and relax. It was fun.

Breakfast: 1 egg omelet w/mushrooms & moz, yogurt, juice
AM snack: banana
Lunch: soup
PM snack: veggies & cheese
Supper: I am going to clean out the freezer so who knows what I will come up with

Goals for day:
1. Water
2. 15 min dance
3. Keep myself busy to avoid the sweets, ask myself if it is really worth it
4. Tackle my office one area at a time, starting w/bookwork

Well, I better get going. Everyone have good day. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Boy, I sure do hear you on the ticker chase! I constantly seem to be in the state where I just need to drop 2 more pounds to get back to the ticker and then I can move forward. But hey, at least we're still close, right?

Glad you got to de-stress yesterday. I can see how playstation could be very helpful--you keep you hands busy, and your mind occupied. What's not to like? Good to hear your DD18 got things straightened out. I suppose the sooner she learns to navigate through bureacracy the better!

I hope you have a great Friday! :flower:

Yes, Pearlieq, at least we are close and at least we are learning how not to continue gaining with no end in sight. ;)

Again, I used yesterday as a way to relax and only take care of what was necessary. Things are better with DH, thank God. We went shopping yesterday in search of closet organizers. The result, there aren't many choices, the "cheaper" systems have a laminated finish which eventually can wear and not look so great. I hate the idea of spending money on something that I will have to go to a lot of work to replace in a few years possibly. I don't care for wire shelving, been there, done that. But who wants to pay the price of having a professional company come out and install a durable melamine finish system at anywhere from $400-1500 a closet? In the long run, it may be cheaper to build something of my own, even if I paid the price of cedar.

Played games in the evening and just enjoyed doing nothing.

AM snack was on schedule. Lunch was a qtr lbr w/cheese and a few fries. I am not sure why DH chose McD's over Subway. Odd. PM snack was candy, again. I think we are out of the good stuff now. :rolleyes1 Supper was late and I had a bowl of chili, it was a free for all clean out the fridge/freezer night. Water was so so.

Breakfast: 1 egg omelet w/mushrooms & moz, ham, juice, milk
AM snack: banana
Lunch: tuna wrap & veggies
PM snack: cheese & veggies
Supper: I don't know yet

Goals for the day:
1. water
2. move the bedrooms around
3. bookwork

Time to get going, I am really hungry and better go get breakfast.

Everyone have a great and wonderful day! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Glad to hear you got a day to relax yesterday! I hear you on the home improvement conundrum--we're going through the same thing with window treatments right now. Of course you want to buy something that is quality and will last so you get the most for your money, but there's quite a bit of sticker shock for "quality", at least for us!

I hope you have a great Saturday! :sunny:

Yesterday was another do nothing day.

I had planned to move the bedrooms, but then DD16 lipped off and DH grounded her, which just made the move harder to accomplish at that moment. DD8 was crushed since she was looking forward to it. Oh well, maybe in a few days. I would think that DD16 would want to get her license, but I guess being "right" is more important.

I thought we would go with doing the shelving ourselves in cedar, but then as I looked around for prices and considered the work, it was getting costly, but still cheaper than the modular units from the hardware stores. However, it takes us years to complete home improvement projects. If we can't get it done in a day or two it might sit in limbo for a long time and I really want about 4 closets done now. DH came home and we were back to the drawing board. We did, however, find some ventilated wood shelving systems on the internet that might work. Wood is good and durable. Also all the shelving is made so that you can cut it all down to size, which is more accomodating than modular units and the price for one closet will either come out cheaper than the modulars or the same, but be a better quality. We might have a winner.

Food. Missed the AM snack. Lunch was a hodge podge of grazing if you call it that. I had some chips, some cheetos, a couple pieces of ham, and some PB. After that, I wasn't real hungry so I decided not to push the real lunch factor. PM snack was goldfish. DH was boasting that he was eating veggies, so I think that was a challenge. ;) Supper was gr bean, sm salad, rice, and chicken. I did have a peice of candy somewhere. Later I had popcorn while watching a movie with DH. Wasn't hungry, didn't need it, but fell into old habits. Water was not great.

All in all, we didn't do much but I did spend alot of time snuggling on the couch with DD8 and DS. It was one of those "good for the soul" kind of days. Let's try for a more productive day today.

Breakfast: cream of wheat, ham, juice
AM snack: banana & milk
Lunch: salad & maybe soup
PM snack: veggies & cheese
Supper: time to hit the cookbooks

Goals for day:
1. water
2. exercise for 15 minutes (at least once, preferrably twice)
3. 45 min or less of GS (phone calls & putting things away)
4. 1-2 hours cleaning out old bookwork and moving to storage
5. 2 hrs work on daily bookwork
6. finish laundry
7. 30 min cleaning/tossing my bedroom

It sounds like alot, but I need to stay focused and really some things won't take as long as I have alotted.

More good news. DH finally got on a good crew for football referee-ing (new word, I guess). He had to decrease drastically the amount of time on his old crew and take up some odd games here and there over the last two years in hopes that someone would recognize him apart from his crew and finally it worked. These guys are pretty good, I guess. So basically, that means that he will be gone alot starting next season. He says 1-2 times a week, I know it will be 3-4. I am so glad because it is something that he has wanted for 10 years and has worked hard at it. Also, that means that I have another reason to back up why I need to turn over some of these extra GS responsiblities. It's good incentive. Somehow things always work out.

I have bent your ear enough today. Better get the day started. Everyone have a wonderful Sunday and keep up the great progress you are making. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

The scale is slowly going back. You know, I know I could make this go faster if I would just get back to planning and eating really well balanced foods and if I could just get going on the exercise. But then there are days that you sleep in without knowing (like today) and you start to feel behind. Hopefully, I can change this Monday around.

Not as productive as I would have liked yesterday, but not bad. I did go through part of my room and got rid of some more clothes. I plan to get those shipped out by Wednesday. Did some bookwork, did some GS, finished laundry, did not exercise, and spent the rest of the day potty training DS. It may be a long couple of weeks. Oh well.

Food. AM snack was missed, I think. Lunch was chili. PM snack was cookies and PB. Maybe even a slice of ham somewhere. Supper was hamburger on bun and fries. Later, I had a bite size candy and a sm handful of popcorn. Water was ok.

Breakfast: cream of wheat, yogurt, juice
AM snack: ham & cheese
Lunch: tuna wrap and veggies
PM snack: raisins & nuts
Supper: think I will make some potato soup & salad

Goals for day:
1. water
2. 15 min dancing to Billy Joel
3. 30 min straightening one part of my office
4. bookwork

Not much more to report. Oh, DH and I sent Pizza Hut over to DD18's dorm last night kind of as a surprise and a Congrats on her scholarship. She could not figure out how we were going to do that (credit cards work wonders ;) ). I think she thought that we were down there and just going to pop around the corner. Anyway, she really enjoyed it. It's always nice to have a little something from "home".

Everyone have a great and wonderful day! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo
