How does everyone like this restaurant? How is the food? Any recommendations on what to get here?

tia!

i like it. i've been for both lunch and dinner.

for lunch i had the croque monsieur, which was grilled cheese w/ham and it was good.

i enjoyed dinner much more. i got a house salad for appy. for main meal i got Noix de Saint Jacques et gambas sautees Flan d'epinards, sauce a l'oseille - Sauteed scallops and black tiger shirmp served with spinach flan and sorrel sauce. it was excellent.

i really like it there.

Our dinner at Le Chefs was not so good. The food was okay, but the wine list was great - Many nice options. The restaurant was pretty tightly packed and there was little to no room between the tables. Needless to say, we got to know the people at the tables next to us because we were practically sitting on top of them.

The flat breads were good. We had the mushroom one and it was quite tasty. Also, the onion soup was enough for just a meal on it's own.

All in all, we could have just hit it on a bad night. Our server tried to fix the problems, but to no avail. We might try it again, but our experience left us a little on the sour side.

Hope your experience at Le Chefs is better than ours was. Please let us know - maybe we will give it another shot!

we love this restaurant. they once served a delicious duck dinner, but no longer. The service has always been top notch as well. the classic onion soup is very good, and the creme brulee is excellent.

1) I prefer the upstairs Bistro over the downstairs Chefs.
2) Since the advent of DDP, the menu and service has suffered.
. . . many expensive menu items have been removed or reduced
. . . the service suffers because of the low tips the servers get

NOTE: Independent restaurants do not give their servers the 18% that Disney restaurants do. So, why should the waiters work hard if they aren't going to get even the amount in tips they did two years ago?

My daughter, niece, and I usually eat here one time on each trip. The food at Les Chefs is delicious and way above what you usually find at WDW. I will say that at Epcot,we prefer the Coral Reef restaurant but Les Chefs is 2nd.

Hi,
We ate there at the end of Jan. with our then 4 y.o. twins and a 2 year old. The grown ups were far from impressed and would not eat there again. I forget already what exactly we had but we felt it was maybe mediocre at best, not particularly french, and given its mediocrity, not worth the price. Also, i agree with the other poster who said the table are too close together. My sincere apolgies to the family with no children who sat near ours. My kids are really good (even strangers tell us that) but they were tired and kept dropping stuff...which is fine in a more roomy atmosphere, definitely annoying in close quarters. I will say though the creme brulee was really good but that's about it. Frankly, I'd stick tothe dessert place if you want to experience France....it rocks if you are into dessert.
HTH,
sss

I agree with those who say there are now way too many tables packed into too small of a space, and the variety and quality have really declined since the advent of DDP.

We ate there in July and loved it. We had always eaten there in the past but had skipped about five years. After this past trip, we couldn't figure out why we stopped going. Our waiter was wonderful. It was his first week in the US and he couldn't do enough for us. I had the macaroni and cheese, which was delicious. The others had the beef tenderloin which was wonderful and the short ribs (I'm pretty sure) which he enjoyed. We had a window seat and really had a great time. We didn't notice any difference since DDP started, and we're not on the dining plan.

I ordered the beef tenderloin well done and it was so tender and flavorful.
In France, the tables are set up the way they are at Les Chefs. To me, it lends to the authentencity.

This is one of my favorite restaurants, but I agree it has suffered in the past few years from the dining plan. My food has always been great, my dad had the short ribs this past time and they were not so good.

It is important to note here that Chefs de France does not serve classic French cuisine, but another cuisine called Nouvelle cuisine. It is characterized by preparing lighter entrees, lighter sauces and vegetables that generally not cooked to mush. The menu creators- Paul Bocuse, Robert Verge and another man are also the founders of this type of cuisine. It is French cuisine, but in a different style than what people may be used to.

The flatbreads, my duck, salads, and charcutiere plates are delicious, as well as the desserts. When available the filet mignon with potato gratin is wonderful as well. I heart profiteroles! :)

We ate there end of September this year & enjoyed it.

Our waiter, Oliver, was very effecient though not what I would call overly friendly. My nine year old who is in French Immersion at school, spoke French to him but he looked totally blank...not Persian French I guess!

The restaurant is very nice to see but crowded. Food wise, we enjoyed most of what we ate but the things that stood out was the calamari, the scallops & shrimp with spinach & one dessert, puff pastry with ice cream & chocolate sauce. We were not as impressed with the cheese puff pastry or the pate. Overall, we enjoyed it but for the price, we preferred both Wolfgang Puck & Le Cellier more.

We like the fixed lunch there: You get a bowl of French Onion soup with a crusty roll, a grilled ham and cheese sandwich with a small salad and creme brule for dessert at one fixed price. I believe it was less than $15.

This is a really filling meal for a great price.

The escargot is wonderful-you have to try it!

My husband loves the duck!! I can eat escargot but I can't eat duck-go figure.

The profiteroles are delicious there. If you go there, order these for dessert. Profiteroles are pastry stuffed with vanilla ice, then covered with a delicious chocolate sauce.:thumbsup2

I haven't tried it yet but it is on my list of places to try I liked the sound of the scallops and shrimp. Not sure on anything else but I do love onion soup!!!!!
