Les Chefs de France or Teppan Edo?

I know these are two totally different restaurants but, I am now weighing which one we should try. My family and I have eaten at a hibachi grill before. They enjoyed it a lot. And I hear Teppan is really good. But I really want to try Les Chefs too. Disney problems, huh? :)

Any opinions on these two??

We enjoyed Teppan Edo, but we didn't think the food was all that good. We've been to two places near home that have much better food. We're glad that we tried it once, but we don't plan to go again. I have never been to Les Chefs de France, though, so I can't compare it for you.

Chefs is always a must do. My youngest daughter has loved it for 15 years! It's her "Happy Place".
The escargots, onion soup. The croque monsieur. I always get quiche. We usually prefer lunch. Just feels like the hustle and bustle of a French Cafe.

I have never eaten at Les Chefs, but just ate at Teppan Edo a few days ago for the first time. It was not bad, but certainly not as good as any other hibachi grill I've ever eaten at. The food was only so-so and the portions were smaller than the gigantic portions I'm used to from a hibachi grill. I didn't really care about that as I didn't want to cart around leftovers all day, but if you're paying out of pocket (we used credits), I'd consider them overpriced. Our chef was great and took time for hilarious pictures, but the hostess was rude and the waitress, while sweet, never refilled our glasses. We were also in a small, cramped corner and I could see that the wallpaper was dirty. Odd. It was fine, but a one-time experience for sure.

We cannot compare the 2, since our ressies for Chef's isn't for another 30 days.

We have done Teppan Edo twice, my daughters loves Hibachi style restaurants. While it is good, it is nothing that will blow you away. As one of the above posters mentioned for the price you pay you get very little compared to our Hibachi here at home. Unless you are going for the enjoyment factor I would find someplace else to eat. If you have the DDP I personally would not waste credits for this place, there are other places to go to get a way better value for your credits. That all being said, we did not have a bad meal there.

The waitresses we have had have been fine, not very attentive, but nothing to complain about, as for the cooks they are fine too. The ones we have had have been just ok, their acts are all rehearsed and they all do just about the same things while cooking as the ones at our local restaurant. Unless we have been unlucky in that department that is what I have observed from them the last 2 times we have been there and comparing to ours here at home. We have had better interaction with our tablemates then our waiters/cooks. All in all it is something we would not write off the list if there was nothing else available for reserving. It just wouldn't be our first choice when dining.

I was very disappointed with Teppan Edo last year mainly because of the portion sizes. Our cook served from left to right and instead of giving everyone equal portions, he gave most of the food to the people to his left. So my advice would be to sit to the cook's left (or in the middle in case they switch directions) unless you want to pay $30 for a virtually empty plate of food.

We have had excellent meals at both on several occasions. You can't go wrong with either. If you want a lighter meal then go with Teppan Edo. We always leave full but not stuffed.

My question for you would be are you planning on lunch or dinner? Then, would you like a show or would you like to be left to quietly enjoy your food?

The Prix Fixe menu at LCdF at lunch is probably the best bang for your buck at any Disney restaurant--and it's delicious to boot. When it comes to dinner, they have a fairly standard offering of "French" dishes. The atmosphere is fairly relaxed, but still somehow manages to capture the clink and clang of a French cafe. The food is a few shades shy of "authentic", but still wonderfully delicious. Hands down, my favorite lunch spot on property.

If you're really craving slightly above average hibachi and a show, then I would say go for Teppan Edo. The food is good and definitely edible and tasty, but it probably doesn't differ much from what you could get at home.

Overall, I'm going to say go for Chefs over Teppan Edo.

Both restaurants are great. BUT, since you've done hibachi in your home town, I say go for something more unique and try Chefs/France. Remy is super cute! But most important, we really loved the food. Click on my dining review from 2012 to see some pics. The cheese board and goat cheese salad was devine. My beef dish was incredible, and my son really loved the roast chicken. My son's creme brulee was the winning dessert here, I liked it better than the profiteroles that I had. :thumbsup2

Teppun Edo is an above average hibachi grill with small portions. I mean, it's good, but you can probably find something just as good near your hometown. Tokyo Dining got all the fun stuff in the Japanese pavilion.

Chefs, on the other hand, is an above average French cafe with decent sized portions and an absolute steal of a prix fixe lunch menu. I wish the food was just a bit more authentic, but it's still delicious. And, hey, you get to meet Remy. Remy is cute.

I'd only choose Teppun Edo over Chefs if my kids were the type who can't sit through a sitdown meal without entertainment, or if I was one of those people who was obsessed with getting the most out of the dining plan and planned on ordering the filet (and, hey, nothing wrong with those situations). Otherwise, Chefs all the way.

We will be on the dining plan - can we still do the prefixe menu? Will we see Remy at lunch or dinner?

My kids love shows but we can sit thru a meal without one. I was so set on Teppan Edo but then I checked out Les Chefs menu and I thought it looked good. And like I said we have done hibachi before. Maybe Edo would be a better show than our local place but we have still experienced that type of show.

Another vote for Chefs. We have done both. Our last trip was our first visit there, and we loved it. The kids even enjoyed it. Its loud, so I didn't worry about our four kids. lol

We have a nice hibachi where we live, and I thought it was nicer than Teppan Edo. The food was good, but nothing out of the ordinary for a hibachi.

Are you on the deluxe or the regular dining plan? If you're on the deluxe, you can definitely do it (though you won't be getting the most for your money- you'd do better getting more expensive options, if you worry about stuff like that). The regular dining plan, you'd probably have to ask- I think they would probably let you get away with it, though, because as said, it's very cheap. You can easily spend more then the prefixe just getting a different entree and dessert. Look charming and you can probably get away with it? ;)

Remy's schedule is a bit spotty. Honestly, whether or not he's up and around seems to depend on whether they currently have a cast member not doing anything at the moment (though I'm sure that's not true... there has to be someone deliberately designed as the Remy escorter, right?). I've seen him at both lunch and dinner, though.

Edo's show is, honestly, not too different then any hibachi show. They'll flip little pieces of shrimp in to your mouth! They'll build an onion volcano (and often give the volcano little mickey ears)! They'll twirl the egg around on their spatula thing! It's very nice, but it's the standard tricks used at basically all hibachi restaurants around the world. Seen one of them, and you've basically seen them all.

I believe this is still Remy's schedule: Monday-Saturday at 12:30, 1:40, 2:50 & 5:20pm.

I have tried both of the them. I like them both, but I prefer Chefs De France. As a previous poster said, Teppan can be hit or miss with portion size. My meal had a lot of onions compared to everyone else. Also, not sure how it is in your part of the country but here in PA hibachi comes with fried rice. Our biggest disappointment was that there was no fried rice. We liked the noodles but we didn't realize there would be no fried rice. I think we got plain white rice but not the same as the stuff they cook with the veggies.

Chefs is a better choice IMHO!

I thought I would let you know that Remy is leaving as of October 24th, 2013. I am very sad because we had ressies for November.
