Anyone know of a good source for performance reviews of various Canon lenses? I found some reviewed on the Digital Camera Resource Page -- but that forum makes out community board here look like kids play; definitely not for the faint hearted.

This site was posted in another thread yesterday, and it has images taken by the lens, ratings of users, as well as links to other sites that have full reviews.

Is there a specific lens you were looking to find reviews on? There might be some members here who have exactly what you're looking for, and can give you some insight.

Thanks for the sites -- any ideas what I'll be doing tonight?

probably same think i have been doing for the past month:lmao:
one interesting thing i did see about wide angles( if you are thinking along those lines) is if you have a 1.6 crop camera you do better( ie wider angle) with a specially for digital one..ie ef-s... but with canon that can't be used on all eos..i read an article about a tamron, think it's d1 11( or something that denotes their special made for smaller sensor digital) mentioned 3rd party made for digitals you can use on any eos camera rather than like the ef-s that i think limits you to 1.6 crop cameras( although i think it said it might cause vignetting or something on some larger sensors) so, it might not be so economical to get a canon efs and then not be able to use it later if you upgrade but the tamron/tokina/ sigma would be ok for the upgraded body .dan't remember the exact lenses you were considering but i thought you had a 30d which i think is 1.6 crop???

yikes dirk same thought at same time:scared1:

Correct thinking, and a concern I had (and still have) before buying a EF-S lens. They could be obsolete if Canon goes to all full frame sensors at some point, and won't fit anything before 20D.

However... because of the EF-S design the front element of a wide angle lens (like the 10-22) is flat, where the front element of a wide angle for full frame is very curved, making it more difficult to use a decent lens hood and filters, and making the front element more susceptible to damage.

It's a tradeoff, and I wonder if Canon is gonna' hose me someday by discontinuing cameras that fit my 10-22, but for now it's a really nice lens.

I personally think FF sensors across the board are years down the road. Hopefully by that time I will have gotten my moneys worth out of my 10-22 EF-S.

well as of now i know it'll be yrs down the road till i could convince myself i need to buy one of the present $$$ ff ones;)

how long ago did canon start the ef lenses and stop the fd lenses? anyone know their photohistory?
