Lens recommendation for Wild Africa Trek

I am hoping someone that has done the WAT can recommend the best range lens to put on my DSLR. It looks like some of the animals are pretty close so I probably won't need a large zoom? I am leaning toward my 18-200 so I can get some landscape shots from the Boma but my main focus would be the wildlife. Any suggestions? TIA

Since you can only take one lens, go long. I took my 70-300 and my husband used his 70-200 when we did the trek last summer and we were both happy with our choice. You'll also want something with image stabilization of some description, especially for the bumpy ride in the truck. Although they do stop for longer than on the Kilimanjaro Safari, it's not always long enough or in the spot you want the driver to stop.

Thank you. I am going to go with my 70-300 as well. My husband has a small P&S that he is taking so we can use that for any landscape shots we may want.

18-200 sounds perfect. I took my 18-135

You will want something to get shots of you your group close by, your lunch, inside the truck, etc.. and you walk down some paths with some neat things to take photos of.. So a 70-300 mighe be too tight.

You also get pretty close to the animals and are hooked up to a harness when you are on the overlooks and the bridge so you have minimal movement and a super zoom is what you need to cover all the shots you want.

Also...be sure to have your camera strap..they will not let you walk on the bridge with your camera if you do not have a strap.

They also give you a download code with shots they take that day of you and your group..will use your camera as well and also throw in their 50 best animal shots of all tours they have done.

It was our favorite tour at disney and we hope to do it again sometime.
