When I made our reservations at POR, we made them for Length of Stay for November 9-16, but room only on the 17th since we are plane departs around noon. Has anyone done this and ran into any problems. Disney said we have to actually check out and then check back in for the last night. Anyone? Anyone?

Also, tipping question!! Tipping for room cleaning (maid service), do you do it daily or at the end of your stay? Done it both ways, wanted others opinion.

Thank you

Length of Stay Passes can be a pain. Especially if you are arriving late the first day and/or leaving early your last day. You might be paying for 2 full park days that you will not be using.

My I ask why you are not purchasing a hopper pass?

If you are set on the Length of Stay Pass, you have to ck-in and out. The other way around it, is to get the Length of Stay Pass for the whole time -- and request at check out on the 17th the price for the 17th be removed since you are leaving and did not have the opportunity to go to the park on the 17th.

We tip daily, you may not get the same CM each day.

My husband is a big LOS person. He likes to go to the parks even if its just for dinner. He does not want to have to worry about not having enough days left on his pass. PLUS, he loves Disney Quest and could do that every night and that's not included in the Hopper Pass.

Thanks for the info, though!!

Can't help you with the checkout/checkin issue. I booked room only and then booked the tickets when I actually checked in. I was able to take off the first and last day by doing that. No problem with getting my DC discount on them at that point either.

As far as tipping, I like to tip daily. Depending on working schedules, you may end up tipping someone at the end of your stay who hasn't even cleaned your room all week. By doing it daily, you ensure that the person who cleans your room that day gets the tip. I printed out Disney envelopes before we went and filled them with the tip. That way I wasn't scrambling for $5s or $1s every morning. Just pulled an envelope out of my suitcase before we left the room. I did not see any envelopes provided by Disney, so it could be tough to indicate that you WANT the maid to take your money. I tipped $5 per day for 5 people.

I have purchased LOS upon arrival and had them drop one day. I would wait until you arrive and buy the tickets.

We did the LOS passes and dropped both the first and last day of our stay with no problem. We had LOS for 10 days but we only go to Disney once every few years and we like to visit the water parks and the kids love DQ, so this works for us.
I went with the intent to tip the maid daily and had the envelopes all printed out but didn't use one! I forgot the first day and when we got back to the room and saw that they did an okay job cleaning I didn't feel so bad for forgetting. I figure I pay for a standard cleaning in the room cost. We were there for 12 days and our sheets were changed once. They didn't vacumn the carpets daily either. After that we decided not to tip. It really is a hard decision. Out of our 12 days there we had three days where maids left extra towels etc and I would have liked to have tipped those maid, but the others didn't do anything to deserve a tip. JMO

Will they drop the last day and give you credit for it if you paid for the length of stay passes in advance? We are driving and at this point we don't know if we will stay most of the day on that last day...or leave first thing that morning.

It doesn't hurt to ask. They will give you a new pass that will not work on your last day.
