Show lasts 27.5 minutes.

No way to get out of Fantasmic! theater, to the front gate of MGM/DHS and over to Epcot's Int'l. Gateway, thru security, the gate, and up to the WS Lagoon in 30 minutes.

We have done a 7pm Fantasmic! and a 9pm Illuminations many times, but it takes about 50-75 minutes (depending on crowds and transportation/walking timing) to get from one to the other.

I don't think you'll make it. I want to say the show is a half-hourish.

I have seen Fantasmic a few times and can't give you the exact minutes, but I would guess a good 30 minutes a show. That would put you at 8:30 and unless Aladdin is going to ride you over on his magic carpet...I don't think you would make the 9:00pm show.:confused3 The huge crowd that exits the Fantasmic theater is like a herd of cattle...You sure could try, but this would not give you the choice of locations to view Illumniations at EPCOT.
Let me know if you try it and how it goes!

I would leave Fantasmic as soon as Mickey starts with the snakes (about 5 minutes before show ends) and bolt to the Boats- get on the boat heading towards the boardwalk hotel and get off at either the Boardwalk hotel or Swan or Yacht club whichever is the first hotel stop, and walk into Epcot from there, you will be right by the Countrys and should make it.. I think it can be done, if you go by boat, don't try to do it by car, you won't make it.

I was going to say this exact same thing...get out of there before it ends, get out right as the big boat with all the characters comes out, and get on that ferry to epcot ASAP!

That all sounds like way too much of a hassle and a huge pain in the rump. Why rush around and make yourself crazy when, chances are, you won't make it?? Do each on a seperate night, or if you don't have time for that, pick your favorite.

Sounds like if she had the time to do both she would, but she must not or she wouldn't be asking. Its really not a hassle, just leave early, take the ferry and ta-da. It will be fine.

Leave EARLY?

Great "spectacles" (that's the kind of show that is Fantasmic!) are designed with a spectacular finale.

I can't see why anyone would take the time to sit and wait for this show, watch it 3/4 (or 7/8)of the way through and get up and bolt before the finale.

And, yes, I have seen hundreds of boorish guests ruin the views of others by doing this early exit bit.

Just plain odd.

I agree with the others. If you are short of days to do both, give it a try. As to the boat thought, the Swan is first. If you are a good walker, I would get off there and walk the rest to IG area. Good luck.

I always leave right after the big boat comes out, to me that is the grand finale! I always get a head start on the crowds this way and not stuck...I feel like I dont miss anything and dont have to get stuck in those crazy exiting crowds.

Its not odd, its just a preference. Leaving before the boat is pointless, but after that you arent missing much. You will probably make Illuminations just in time.

I think you can do it if you walk the ENTIRE route from Disney's Hollywood Studios to Epcot. There is no guarantee there will be a Friendship boat waiting at the dock and even if there is,the loading process will take some time. The walking I am talking about is SPEED WALKING!You will have to walk as fast as you can the entire time to have a chance of making the opening salvo of IllumiNations.I have speed-walked this route before and made it in just under thirty minutes.:)

And that's the problem...

There will only be about 30 minutes, TOTAL, to get to a viewing spot in Epcot.

Getting out of the Fantasmic Theater and all the way to the front gate at MGM/DHS takes a very long time
(even if you leave the show before its over... which I just can't do... the fireworks and Mickey on the mountain are the finale of the show.)

Follow me here:

Fantasmic! will be out at 8:28pm.

That leaves 32 minutes to do the following:

get OUT of the theater
and down the ramp to the studio streets, at best - 7 minutes
over to the front gate- 7 minutes

Either take the boat or speed-walk to the Intl Gateway
Either fastest way will take 25-35 minutes (let's say 28 minutes)

go thru security and the Epcot gate- 3 minutes
walk to the bridge between UK and France (closest view)- 2 minutes

That's 47 minutes. (We only had 32 between shows.)

So we will be 15 minutes late.

That means missing IllumiNations entirely as it only lasts 13.5 minutes.

If you were very lucky and cut off 6 minutes from my numbers, you'd still miss (at least) half of IllumiNations.

Having physically made this very trip on several different nights... when I had 90 minutes between shows (not 30)... I know how long it took us, as I was timing the entire way each time to keep track.

I'm all for attempting these things, but this one is just too tight.

I hate to run like crazy and still arrive too late.
Very disappointing.
