I just ended up going to my nieces shower last week. It had a start time on the invite but no end time. Started at 115 when she arrived and people left when they needed to go. All stayed for the beginning of the gift opening but some did leave after their gift was opened as it was a lot of gifts and people had places to be.
It was nice in that we all ate as soon as she arrived and well before gifts. We had a two hour drive to get to the shower and we actually did stay til the gifts were opened and after the cake was cut. Wasn't missing out on the delicious cake! All in all we left at around 430 and there were still more then half there. We had a long drive home and didn't want to stay later.
