Ok, so here I am! Had to start somewhere. Maybe the fact that I know people will actually be reading what I post will help me to be more accountable and make better choices.

My overall goals: I seem to remember weighing around 126 when I got pregnant with my first child. He's 9 now and I haven't seen the 120s since! I peaked at 142 around this time last year. That freaked me out and I did a moderate-carb diet for a couple of weeks just to get me back down into the mid-130s. I'm 5'1", by the way, so even a mere 5 lbs. shows up on me. I also need to exercise WAY more. Part of my struggle is that I live in a northern climate. Winter is not my friend! I actually love to get out and walk when the weather and road conditions permit. I have a two-mile route that's great. But when you step out the door and your nose hairs freeze together just trying to breathe, well....Need I say more?! I have a treadmill. By this time of year I'm pretty sick of it. Can't afford a gym membership right now; I do have some free weights but they are in the basement, which is freezing cold this time of year (do you see a pattern here?!). And finally, when that thermometer is struggling to reach the teens despite full sunshine, I'm sorry but salad and fruit and such things are just NOT what my body wants! Give me hot soup! Give me hot homemade bread! Did someone say potroast and mashed potatoes?!!

Ok, so anyway...Onward and upward! I've been on eDiets for about 5 weeks now. Basically it's just for someone to tell me what food choices to make in a given day. I do pretty "ok" with it, but again, the salad/fruit/veggie thing just isn't happening for me. I have found my biggest monster is around the 4:00 hour...I come to the kitchen to do any clean-up and start getting stuff ready to prepare dinner for the family. It's SO easy to pick in that pantry. If only I could stay out of the kitchen altogether!!! Alas, not possible.

My goals for accomplishing my weight loss, in addition to simply being healthier, is our tirp to WDW this November. And even before that happens, warm weather WILL eventually return to the frigid North, and ain't no way these legs are going into shorts as is! :crazy2: My most immediate goal is to get back into shape for riding this spring. I have use of a horse (my passion...! ) and want to get out there and ride and be fit doing it!

Until next time....!

You'll be surprised how much the journal helps. It helps me be accountable for what I'm eating. I have it on a diary thru nutrisystem, but no one reads them there, so this works for me. Also I get great tips fromreading other ppls. You might want to try one of the exercise challenges, too. I just did my first one. I was logging my time thru nutrisystem, so I was able to see that I was doing about 840 mins. a month. So for feb. I upped it to 1000 and saw results. I really like to have those exercise minutes to log!
Good Luck!

Well, nothing like a bout with the flu to help you lose weight!! Ugh. Glad that's over. But, I did drop a couple pounds! It's motivation to NOT go back up again. I also just joined the March Exercise Challenge. My goal is 30 min/day, 6 days/week.

I'm modifying the "diet" a bit this week, too, and see how that goes. I'm getting really burned out on following a prescribed menu. Sometimes I just don't feel like eating what's planned! So, I'm going to try to just eat sensibly and healthy, and watch my portions. Plus lots of water!!

:yay:

Hi and welcome to WISH

You have a great plan in place....you can do this.

Hope you are feeling better!!!

Happy Friday!

Congrats for getting started and joining a challenge. :cool1: The challenges on this board have really helped me to set goals & then actually reach them. It won't be long until you're weather will be warming up and you'll be able to get outside for exercise. Hang in there!

Welcome to DIS WISH Journals! You do sound like you have a great plan in place. And I can totally relate to not wanting to go outside in the winter. I had started a running program, and then decided the eliptical in the nice warm house is the way to go for now ;) .

Keep up with the journal. And definitely read other people's journals on here. We are all great inspiration for each other.

Good Luck! :cheer2:

How funny-You sound a lot like me, except I am 5'7". I am at 150 and haven't seen 130 since my 20's. I have a treadmill and a home gym because I hate public gyms. But, it's been so hard with the cold to go workout some days. And I'm in California, but my garage gets cold! We are also going to Disney World in November. So, I have an 18 lb plan that I started on Feb. 18, exactly 9 months until we leave. It's 2 lbs a month. I'm also keeping a journal-You'll see my struggles are with wine, but I'm looking into starting the Sonoma Diet. I've also started a modified Oprah/Bob Green exercise plan. Good luck! I'll be following your journal.

Back again. Just finally got in my exercise today - was still feeling pretty wiped out from the flu on Saturday, and we were away all day yesterday. So this afternoon I actually went - *gasp* - OUTSIDE! I walked my 2-mile route in 35 minutes. Not a bad pace! It was so good just to be off that treadmill and looking at the woods and the river (also got to use my new MP3 player! :goodvibes ).

For the diet, I'm doing pretty well! As I mentioned in my previous post, I'm not following a meal plan this week, just making sensible choices and watching my total calorie intake in a day. I allowed myself a piece of chocolate cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream (yummm-meeee!) yesterday, as we were at my in-law's celebrating DH's birthday. But I ate well the rest of the day so don't feel badly about it.

After losing that 3 lbs. what with having the flu and all, if I can keep going I may be able to change my "member" clippie to the "5" clippie at the end of this week! Here's hoping...(although this is "bloat" week, if you know what I mean... ).

Off to do some ab work!

You're doing GREAT! :cool1:

Keep it up, and you'll get that 5 clippie in no time!

Doing great with the exercise challenge! I'm really getting into this. :cool1:

Had a fair day of eating today...Picked a few too many little bites here and there (I grocery shopped today and there was just so much new yummy stuff to sample! ). It wasn't a total bust, but I certainly can't do that again tomorrow! With eDiets I usually weigh in on Thursdays but am going to skip tomorrow and wait until Saturday or Sunday, when The Great Bloat is over....! Drink water to flush water...drink water to flush water....Lather, rinse, repeat...Oops!...sorry, got carried away.

Ha! I decided to take my measurements again (been almost 2 months) this morning and forego the scale, and I've lost inches! Wahoo!! Lost nearly 3 inches off my waist, two off the bust, almost 2 off the hips, and one off the thighs (stubborn things....).

Just keep swimmin'!...just keep swimmin'!.... :Pinkbounc

Yay! I've officially switched my clippie to the "5 lbs." one! My last weigh-in confirmed that I have lost 5 lbs. since I began my weight-loss challenge.

I'd like to lose another 7 or 8 pounds. I can do it! :cheer2:

That's great about the 5 lbs. I've lost a little too, with the help of a cold. My goal is to have all my clothes very comfortable when I go to WDW!

Just came off four days of no exercise and paying zero attention to what I'm eating! Busy schedule will do that to a gal...

However, I got in an hour's worth of exercise today and just came to the March Challenge board to post it. I realized how motivating this forum is! I mean, where else can you combine your obsession with Disney with weight loss?!! Gotta love it. I'm going to give myself this week to get back on track before doing any "weights and measures," but I'm actually looking forward to getting back on track....Huh?!?! :confused3 Never in my life have I felt that way!!!!!!! I just keep thinking, Yeah, when I get in my workout for today I can go over to the W.I.S.H. forums and post it on the Challenge board and maybe change the colors in my "goal" numbers! And you know what?...I did! :Pinkbounc I'm going to have to set a higher goal for April; when I set 750 for March, that was only taking into account my walking, but I'm also doing some toning and ab work, which definitely counts towards my total.

Been in a bit of a slump with the diet....Ok a lot of a slump! I find I can only go so long with watching everything I eat, and while I don't end up binging on something, I finally get to a point where I just eat what I want and the heck with it. I'm keeping up with the exercise for the most part so I'm getting some shape back to my legs! Yay! I just got to a point recently where I said, "You know, it really only matters what your legs look like because that's all that shows in the summer anyway!!!!" I'm not heavy up top so have no issues with my arms or anything. I get SO tired of trying to get rid of that little belly roll, which isn't obvious under a t-shirt and nobody knows is there! I'm trying to keep my weight down for my health first and foremost, but right now I just don't care if I don't have six-pack abs, you know?!!! My swimsuit is a two-piece job from LL Bean that's shorts on the bottom, so even my upper thighs never see the light of day, except out on my back deck... :p But when I can see muscle tone from there down and my knees are obvious, I'm pretty happy.

Anyway I still want to watch my portions and keep the sweets to once in a while, and I've GOT to be sure not to "pick" when I'm making dinner! Ugh, that's such a bad habit. Other than that I'd really like to eat what the rest of the family is having most of the time! It's not unhealthy stuff, it's just not "lean and mean" most nights.

Well speaking of dinner it's time to rustle some up....

Good Morning, LegoMom!

How's it going?

Glad you're back on track & moving!!

Weekend's almost here :thumbsup2

Well, gee....this is like starting all over again! Had to dig my journal post somewhere out of Page 2 in this forum! Yikes. :rolleyes1

April was just such a busy month for us that I wasn't even close to my exercise goal and finally stopped keeping track. Was doing ok early May but then had houseguests for a couple of weeks, and that will throw anyone's schedule off! Top it off with a horrible cold for over a week, and well, that was that.

So here I am again, back at it. I'm not scale-watching right now. My more immediate goals are to get in regular exercise. I did almost an hour on the Gazelle this afternoon. I'm trying to cut out the "bad" food (cookies and the like) and snacking outside of my allotted a.m. and p.m. pick-me-ups. I really struggle with picking at stuff out of boredom.

Our trip to WDW has been moved UP! We booked Free Dining last month so now are going in September instead of November. Gotta be fit by then so I can enjoy all that food! I'm pretty psyched, though, 'cause we are staying at POR and since I tend to get up before the rest of the fam, I plan to make use of the jogging trail at POFQ.

If there's a June exercise challenge on the W.I.S.H. forum I'll probably sign up again, now that I'm back in the swing of things. It helps that the weather has finally turned nice, too! :sunny:

HI Legomom. Just caught up on your journal. I started with WISH last month and it has really helped keep me accountable. Sounds like you have a great trip planned for Sept and already a plan for exercising while on vacation.

How's it going, LegoMom??? Are you still hangin' in there?

Yikes....suddenly the trip we've been planning for SO long is only 38 days away! I admit I got lazy over the summer and haven't been doing much with the diet or exercise. I just set up a goal on the August Exercise Challenge thread, and I'm coming here to journal my progress over the next few weeks.

I had wanted to re-join eDiets but we got word that the repair bill for our van is $750!!!!! :scared1: So there is absolutely nothing "extra" in the budget right now. Thank God the vacation is paid for!

However, I'm an intelligent adult who can reasonably put together some sensible meals and cut out the snacking and junk food. It really helps having this board to come to! When I was doing it earlier this year, I actually looked forward to coming on each day to add time to my total exercise minutes. I can do it again!

My goal for weight loss is 8 pounds. Doesn't sound like much but at my height every little pound shows. I've got that typical female zone between my belly and my knees that just won't let go of the fat!!!!!!!!! Ugh. I know I can see 130 lbs. again!

Ok, off to get started!
