Ok, so here I am! Had to start somewhere. Maybe the fact that I know people will actually be reading what I post will help me to be more accountable and make better choices.
My overall goals: I seem to remember weighing around 126 when I got pregnant with my first child. He's 9 now and I haven't seen the 120s since! I peaked at 142 around this time last year. That freaked me out and I did a moderate-carb diet for a couple of weeks just to get me back down into the mid-130s. I'm 5'1", by the way, so even a mere 5 lbs. shows up on me. I also need to exercise WAY more. Part of my struggle is that I live in a northern climate. Winter is not my friend! I actually love to get out and walk when the weather and road conditions permit. I have a two-mile route that's great. But when you step out the door and your nose hairs freeze together just trying to breathe, well....Need I say more?! I have a treadmill. By this time of year I'm pretty sick of it. Can't afford a gym membership right now; I do have some free weights but they are in the basement, which is freezing cold this time of year (do you see a pattern here?!). And finally, when that thermometer is struggling to reach the teens despite full sunshine, I'm sorry but salad and fruit and such things are just NOT what my body wants! Give me hot soup! Give me hot homemade bread! Did someone say potroast and mashed potatoes?!!
Ok, so anyway...Onward and upward! I've been on eDiets for about 5 weeks now. Basically it's just for someone to tell me what food choices to make in a given day. I do pretty "ok" with it, but again, the salad/fruit/veggie thing just isn't happening for me. I have found my biggest monster is around the 4:00 hour...I come to the kitchen to do any clean-up and start getting stuff ready to prepare dinner for the family. It's SO easy to pick in that pantry. If only I could stay out of the kitchen altogether!!! Alas, not possible.
My goals for accomplishing my weight loss, in addition to simply being healthier, is our tirp to WDW this November. And even before that happens, warm weather WILL eventually return to the frigid North, and ain't no way these legs are going into shorts as is!
My most immediate goal is to get back into shape for riding this spring. I have use of a horse (my passion...!
) and want to get out there and ride and be fit doing it!
Until next time....!
