Legoland - worth it?

At the last minute, I've realized that I can get some discount Legoland tickets. We have a 10 year old son who loves Legos. Is it worth it to try to squeeze in a day there? I just don't want it to be an underwhelming experience if we go out of our way to do it.

10 years is the perfect age, if you wait any longer there is not much for older kids. We went to the one in Southern California and my son was 8 years and he loved it. But it is geared to 10 and under.

10 is a good age to go but if he enjoys the bigger coaster rides at Disney or even Universal, then he may not like it as much. If he is afraid of those rides then Legoland is perfect.

No, actually he's a little scared of bigger rides. He likes the dark motion simulator type rides at Universal, but he won't get on bigger coasters.

Then Legoland would be good. They make the rides seem like the big kids rides , but geared towards little ones. It made my little one feel like a big kid riding them because he saw his brother do rides like them at universal & Disney.

I would plan on driving school, flying school, boating school, the 4d movie, a Lego Mindstorms class, a walk through mini land, the 2-3 roller coasters, the water ski show (if he likes cheesy shows - the water skiing is actually good:)), 2-3 other big kid rides, and some time in the Build/Test area or the Games Zone or walking through the old Cypress Gardens (which is beautiful). I'd finish the day with some Apple Fries (the best food in the park, at least for us:)). You can get this done easily showing up around 9-10am and leaving by 5pm to get a nice dinner somewhere and be very happy with your day.

Wonderful! Thank you so much!

If I might hijack a little - one day or two at Legoland for a family of four (including a daughter without much interest in Lego, but an 8 y.o. son with high interest), if we also want to do the waterpark? Thanks!

We went in December with my 2 & 7 year olds. It was a great 1 day park for us. It wasn't busy when we arrived (at opening) and really didn't wait all morning. I thought it was getting close to the age limit for my 7 year old, but she asked to go back on our nex trip.

We just went last week for the first time & my kids are 10 & 12. The kids enjoyed it, but we were done by suppertime. (It was also the day the Tropical Storm came through though, so we may have stayed longer with better weather) They both really enjoyed the Legoland Hotel.

My kids love legoland. We went when they were between the ages of 4-10. I would highly recommend 1day there, which is all you really need. It is a low key park, very different vibe than Disney. Relaxed, casual and fun in its own way.

We went the day before Thanksgiving and a weekday the end of May and the crowds were very low. We didn't have to wait more than 5-10 tops for each ride. My kids loved just being able to build and race cars. It's a bit boring for my husband but I think it's a great 1 day park- def. when you can get buy 1 get 1 free deals on tickets.
