Right now we're planning on doing Epcot on our last day, but... I admit, part of me is tempted to go to Legoland instead. The kids (8 & 5) are huge Lego fans... Who has been there? What's it like? Is it worth the price? ($335 for one day, including water park)

It should not cost that much. Look for a kids free with adult ticket offer. Should be around $200 for a family of four.

Your kids will love it, as they are in the perfect age range. It isn't as themed or as slick as a Disney park, but still lots of fun, especially for younger kids.

My kids would pick Legoland over Epcot any day.

We have not done the waterpark. There is plenty to do in the regular park for a full day for us. We get there at opening and leave around 4 p.m. or so.

As much as I love Disney, I would definitely say take a day and head to Legoland. Your kids are the perfect age! If they're Lego fans, they will love it. It's more low-key which is sometimes a nice break from the craziness that is a Disney park! Do you subscribe to the Lego Club magazine for your kids? They usually have buy an adult, get a child ticket for free. Or sometimes the small sets of Legos even have the same coupons in them (think the little plastic bag ones they have for Easter baskets). I've even seen offers on Groupon or Living Social or similar sites.

We did both the park and water park in one day. BUT we went the end of August when most kids were back to school and the park was absolutely, totally deserted. Literally, my kids walked on to every single ride with no more than a 5 minute wait for anything at all. Usually not even the 5 minutes! And we skipped the gardens and water ski show. So if you're doing everything in one day, you may have to prioritize a bit. You'll be able to keep more than busy in the regular park for a full day.

I was there before the waterpark, but our whole group loved it! (There were nine of us - three generations ranging in age from seven to "doesn't tell anymore".)

The roller coasters were tamer than other places I've been, but a lot of fun, and we enjoyed the other rides as well - some family and some just for the kids. The large models and "Miniland" were fabulous! The "safari" through Lego animals was one of our favorites, and we happened to be there in November, so they were also building a huge Christmas tree, which was really cool.

(As for the cost, I do agree you can find discounts on admission, but be prepared to make up the difference in shopping. I've never been in a more amazing Lego store...and let's just say...I was not strong.)

We had a great time at Legoland last August. Made even better by the fact that we got free 14 day tickets with our Universal tickets (offer in UK) so didn't cost any extra. It was our 11th trip to Orlando so was nice to do something different. My son who is now 14 has been a huge lego fan since he was a toddler so it was special for us. We loved the rides especially Chima which really was the most fun we had in 24 days. It was as if we had stepped into a swimming pool fully clothed, but ok when its 90 degrees! My son rode it over 10 times. No queues anywhere except boat school, we waited 15 minutes.
So we are really looking forward to going back this year.
I have heard there are lots of places to get discounts.

Legoland was my kids' favorite park when we went last year. (DS was 8, DD1 was 5.) As PP mentioned, try to get a Lego Club magazine ( https://wwwsecure.lego.com/en-us/club/eventjoin ) to get the Kids go free ticket offer to bring the price down. Or buy one of the little Lego pouches in the check out line at Walmart/Target. They'll regularly have the Kids Go Free ticket offers on the back of the cellophane. (So you can see if it has the offer before you buy it.)

The rides are smaller, but that just meant my 5 year old could do just about everything. My only big advice is, go to the back & do the driving academy first. (And I let my 5 year old do the big kid version even though it's for 6+.) It's the only thing we ran into long lines at over Spring Break last year!
