One suggestion would be to do Legoland first so that you end your trip with DLR. If you end with LL, it might be a little disappointing since DLR is so much more than LL - save the best for last.
My thoughts exactly. Deciding on where to stay in Anaheim is becoming a project now to do the same for the Legoland. but yes the best for last. the kids havent noticed that Ive been obseesed planning here so maybe i can actually surprise them with DL. or maybe surprise them with the trip the morning of. Thank you. If you know of any close hotels by legoland please feel free to share. I am clueless about the whole thing.

I agree with the doing the other things first and then end with Disney. We did that on our recent trip and my daughter was so excited everyday just waiting for the days to go to Disneyland. Have a great trip!!!
We stayed at Homewood Suites in Carlsbad, not far from Legoland. We loved it and wished we could have spent more than one night there. In one room there were 2 queen beds and the bathroom. In the front room there was a sofa that pulled out into a bed, and a kitchen area with a stove, dishwasher, micro, full size fridge. I think they had flat screens in both rooms. They have a daily breakfast buffet, and then a "welcome home reception" type thing in the evenings Mon. through Thurs.LL was such a dissapointment... go there first!

Legoland if you have a kid who loves legos can be a great day. It is not Disneyland, and it isn't trying to be. Go with a different attitude. There are tons of things to look at, a few rides, and a great place where you can spend hours building anything you can think of out of legos. It all depends on what you are looking for. It is very well laid out also, lots of room and not too crowded. There is also Sea World, the zoo and safari park. San Diego is a much easier and prettier city to visit.
Oh, i just noticed your other post about having 6-8 people so i guess those hotel suggestions probably won't work for you. Have fun planning your trip!
