Which airport is closest to legoland? I am thinking of staying there the first couple of nights and then transfer to a GNH for the remainder of my stay.

or would it make sense to start off in Anaheim first? so confused. help. thank you in advance. :confused3:confused3 :confused3

San Diego airport is the closest to Legoland. I would say the next closest is John Wayne (Orange County).

Not sure how to answer your question about what to do first or second....not sure what else is going on to make a difference either way.

One suggestion would be to do Legoland first so that you end your trip with DLR. If you end with LL, it might be a little disappointing since DLR is so much more than LL - save the best for last.

My thoughts exactly. Deciding on where to stay in Anaheim is becoming a project now to do the same for the Legoland. but yes the best for last. the kids havent noticed that Ive been obseesed planning here so maybe i can actually surprise them with DL. or maybe surprise them with the trip the morning of. Thank you. If you know of any close hotels by legoland please feel free to share. I am clueless about the whole thing.

I don't actually know the hotels down by Legoland but if you're doing a search, LL is in Carlsbad (not San Diego) so that should help you find something. Also, i'm thinking the LL site probably has some nearby hotels mentioned on it if you haven't looked there yet.

As for hotels in Anaheim, I personally like the Candy Cane Inn. It's within walking distance but they also have a free shuttle. They have free parking, free breakfast (nothing fancy but it's a step above what you usually see for this type of breakfast) and they've done a good job with the landscaping. A lot of people like Hojo (especially with the entertainment rate when it's available). There are others that people like too but those get consistantly good reviews and are mentioned frequently.

Oh, i just noticed your other post about having 6-8 people so i guess those hotel suggestions probably won't work for you. Have fun planning your trip!

There is a pretty expensive hotel attached to Legoland that you can walk to from Legoland. I agree start with LL and end with Disney. LL is fun and has a lot to do and your kids will love it, but Disneyland is well......Disneyland, can't do any better.

we have gone to disney 1st then moved to a hotel in san diego for legoland and sea world. we used the driving day to go to Legoland. Legoland (carlsbad) is about half way between anahiem and san diego. My son was 4 when we went last and it was not a dissapointment as he LOVES lego.

but

This time we are doing the slow build of excitment to disney .... we fly into lax and drive to san diego on the 1st day. will go to Sea world for a few days then on the day we drive back to anahiem we will go to legoland. Will be going to universal and then lastly disneyland for 5 days :0)

I am sure it works either way but if it is all about the rides I would go to legoland 1st or you kids might think it is lame after disney. I guess it all depends on the ages of your kids and if they are lego nuts or not.

happy planning :cool1:

I agree with the doing the other things first and then end with Disney. We did that on our recent trip and my daughter was so excited everyday just waiting for the days to go to Disneyland. Have a great trip!!!

I agree with all the previous posters who said to end your trip at Disneyland. LL is wonderful, but nothing can compare to DL.

When we took our 3 boys for their first Disneyland/Legoland trip we did Legoland first. We were so glad we did. Legoland was their first experience with rides, so it was a good place to gear up for the bigger and better that was yet to come. It's just nice to end a trip with Disneyland anyway. :) We stayed at Homewood Suites in Carlsbad, not far from Legoland. We loved it and wished we could have spent more than one night there. In one room there were 2 queen beds and the bathroom. In the front room there was a sofa that pulled out into a bed, and a kitchen area with a stove, dishwasher, micro, full size fridge. I think they had flat screens in both rooms. They have a daily breakfast buffet, and then a "welcome home reception" type thing in the evenings Mon. through Thurs.

Just got back from both and I'd definetly say do Legoland first then Disneyland.

In Carlsbad there is a La Quinta and a Ramada a quick 10 minutes away. We stayed at La Quinta and its a great hotel. Also they have a free continental breakfast which is top notch.

We flew in and out of SNA (John Wayne)...spent 4 days in Carlsbad...5 in San Diego...and 5 in Anaheim (at Disney!).

One day at Legoland was enough for us.

We stayed at the West Inn and Suites in Carlsbad...expensive...but if price isn't a concern then an AMAZING hotel.

:)

San diego is usually closer and usually cheaper to fly into. I wouldn't spend more than a day at legoland. it is nothing spectacular

Legoland if you have a kid who loves legos can be a great day. It is not Disneyland, and it isn't trying to be. Go with a different attitude. There are tons of things to look at, a few rides, and a great place where you can spend hours building anything you can think of out of legos. It all depends on what you are looking for. It is very well laid out also, lots of room and not too crowded. There is also Sea World, the zoo and safari park. San Diego is a much easier and prettier city to visit.

YEs, totally agree. I learned years ago to go with absolutely no expectations, live in the moment and just enjoy whatever the kids want to do. I have a laid out plan when I visit the parks but I'm definetly not militant when I go. I always see those upset and miserable families and always thank the Lord that its not me.

It is what it is. :thumbsup2
