Legoland Orlando Vs Legoland Windsor

Has anyone been to both?

My sister has recently been to Windsor with her 8yr old son and 3yr old daughter. She wasn't very impressed and said there wasn't much her DD could go on. Also, in order to do their version of 'fast passing', you had to pay extra (a bit like they do at Universal now). The queues were also long (which is to be expected at a theme park) but were not interactive.

She said they were hoping to be able to walk around and see a lot of Lego models, but it was mostly rides, and anything you wanted to see had to be queued for.

We were planning on taking DD (4yo) and DS (2yo) to Legoland Orlando next August when we go, but I'm quite put off now.

Is the Orlando park similar, or will it be a better experience?

Never been to Legoland Windsor but I believe they are pretty similar.

That said, my 8 and 3 yr olds love Legoland and we've never had problems with lines BUT we've also never been in the summer.

I was at Legoland FL in April. There were no lines for anything. Literally everything was a walk-on. I don't recall the queues because we went right through them to load. Not sure how that equates to a peak season though...

Rides in FL are geared towards younger kids. 8 and under would be my guess. My 9 year old was about at the upper limit for age appropriateness for the rides.

In terms of seeing Lego models, FL has an area that is called "Miniland". If you are looking for models, Miniland easily makes the cost of admission worthwhile. There are tons of scenes of famous places, all faithfully redone in Lego--NYC, Vegas, DC, San Francisco, Daytona Speedway, Kennedy Space Center, etc. Plus, they also did tons of Star Wars scenes in Lego as well.
