Hello,
We are headed to San Diego for the holidays 12/25-30. We have five full days and a tight budget. I pricelined the hotel ($35 a night), purchaced a SAN Entertainment book at (30% off and free shipping) bought a Zoo/Wild Animal Park membership for the year (cheaper than the rates w/ ent. coupons), I have two different coupon books from the chamber of comerce, and plan to do Sea World w/ the AAA dicount. We were going to just relax and do the Zoo multiple days in short spurts, enjoy the beaches, Old Town and other sights with Sea World as the highlight (and splurge) of this trip. I think she's too short (41") for most of the CA hyped rides...so we were going to save both California parks for her taller future...or possibly a longer summer trip.
Getting to the question..... my DD of 6.5 is a living Disney Princess (the only Legos she owns is Minnie's birthday party set)...should we do Legoland with the great coupons (parents play at kid rate or $7 off ea for all) or forgo the legos for a comuter day at Disneyland during what has been deemed to be the holiday rush week? As you can see I'm a DL virgin...please help thanks in advance...btw our cruise is now on hold for at least a year :(

Just my opionion, but I think you would be dissapinted with Legoland. We live right by it and have only been once. DL will be crowded though at that time so the choice is up to you, If you just relax and enjoy Disneyland and don't have to do all of the rides, etc. I think she would enjoy it a lot more. It's decorated so nicely for the holidays. Also get there first thing in the morning and you will be surprised at all that you can do. We try to do Fantasyland first and then go right to toontown to see characters-or check to see when the princesses are out. I was just there on Wednesday, and we saw a lot of villians out. The snow queen from Snow White, Hook, the Queen from Alice as well as the princesses by the castle. I have a 3 yr old DD and wouldn't hesitate to pick DL over Legoland.

I'll get shot for saying this, but I might opt for Knott's or even the beach. With a tight budget and schedule, I think your chances of being disappointed are very good with the long drive, single day ticket prices, and the crowds at DL . Knott's is a great one-day park, well-suited for the entire family. Kids of all sizes can spend countless hours in Camp Snoopy without standing in long lines.

Disneyland has PLENTY of wonderful attractions for young children, but that week is notorious for heavy crowds.

Thanks for all of your suggestions. Well we skipped both DL and Legoland...enjoyed the zoo and beaches to the fullest...we caught the Holiday Bowl parade which was full of silly drill teams and 26 large balloons. We dined with our entertainment book and found good after x-mas deals on ornaments as momentos. Sea World was less than crowded on the 26th we splurged on dinning with Shamu...they have a new baby orca nad it was delightful. It was a great vacation a budget..less than $1000 for 3w/ air from Milwaukee, the Residence Inn Central was great for $35 a night (thanks to priceline) with breakfast and lots of healthy snacks for the rest of the day a kitchen for leftovers. We loved the Wild Animal Park's Holiday Festival and soaked up as much sun as we could although it was overcast most of the week. The city seemed to be thankful for tourists and you could tell how much their economy depends on tourism...even shoestring tourist teachers like ourselves! :smooth:
