Anybody have a recommendation for a hotel near Legoland. We're going to go for one night before doing Disneyland. Would like clean, decent pool area, close to Legoland and not too expensive. Thanks.

It really depends upon where you want to stay. Some folks visiting Legoland choose to stay in San Diego and Some choose to stay in Carlsbad (don't confuse with Carlsbad Caverns). For your needs, I would suggest Carlsbad, as any hotel in that area will be in the general vicinity of Legoland. My preference would be to stay at Holiday Inn Carlsbad by the sea. Holiday inn, isn't what it used to be. It isn't like motel 6 or something anymore. (In fact, travelocity users, rated this hotel 5 out of 5 - more than even the Hilton that costs at least $50 more!, and much more than the comprably priced Ramada which only got 1 out of 5) Plus this one has a TGI friday's restraunt in it, which makes it easy to have a bite to eat before heading out to Legoland. And it is also only about 5 minutes from Legoland. Don't forget to ask about a AAA discount, or try for a discount on travelocity or expedia. Anyways, their web addy is:

Hope this helps

We just stayed at the Grand Pacific Palisades Resort. We did a timeshare presentation for $199 which included 2 nights at the hotel and 2 adult and 2 child tickets to Legoland for 2 days. Our presentation was scheduled for 2 hours but only went for 20 minutes. The resort is about a 2-minute drive to legoland and the rooms are your typical hotel room. They have a great kids pool and waterplay area. The hotel also offers good rates on their website www.grandpacificpalisades.com. You can just call them for the number for the timeshare presentation or follow the link from one of their pages. We thought that it was a good deal for the price! Have fun!:)

We have stayed at the Holiday Inn. The one in Carlsbad is a former "Andersons" complete with the windmill. Nice pool area and it was adjacent to the flower fields (which are fabulous!)

We also stayed at Courtyard, which we enjoyed, but the pool is very small if this is in your agenda.

We stayed at the Hilton GI; it's a very short drive to Legoland. We paid $199/night over Labor Day weekend. Benefits: We were able to purchase park tickets at the hotel front desk that you could exchange at guest relations for a free return tickets that had to be used within 7 days & the room rate included breakfast. Don't let the beach front view sway you to stay here; very few rooms have a beach view and it isn't a public beach; there aren't stairs or any convenient way to get down to the water; you'd have to climb over rocks, etc. The pool area was very spartan; just a basic pool & spa. Next time I'll stay at the Holiday Inn; it was on the other side of the freeway and was even closer to the park.

:bounce:

Thank you. I decided to go with the Holiday Inn for convenience/value.
