Am I missing something about the Legoland Hotel? $600 per night?!?! Is something crazy included that I don't know about?

I just had a friend that went in February and paid around $170. She got the reservation when it first opened up. $600 seems outrageous, maybe they are close to being fully booked when you are going, so then the prices go up. No, it doesn't include any tickets unless you get that option. She did say that the hotel was very fun for her 7 year old son.

Disney charges that much for many of its hotel rooms that are close to the theme park, so Legoland just wants to join in the fun.

Club level theme park view at the Poly is $1335, so the Legoland hotel, which offers free breakfast, is a huge bargain!

Yep the prices are insane for the next few weeks. I had had some success booking through a thrid party site and it was $330 for 2 nights, be we had to change our dates and now there is only availability through the Legoland site--at $400-600 per night! We added on at the Yacht Club and are just planning a day trip to Legoland now...

For comparison I checked rack rate at the Poly for a regular room for the same night, $577. Legoland was $620. Part of my problem is that we're local and I looked at the last minute to see if there was anything for a night this week. I just can't justify $620 for something that I won't even get 24 hours of time in.

You'd have to book a club level room to get free breakfast at the Poly.

I'm with you, I would never pay these prices, but those prices are there for the people who don't care about what they spend.

There's the first problem: Spring Break.

The second problem is that the Legoland Hotel only has 152 rooms. I'm sure that the hotel is probably almost fully booked for the next two weeks and has been for many months. Although most people wouldn't pay $600/night, some will. If you only have 1 or 2 rooms and hundreds of thousands of locals who have kids out of school, the pricing makes sense.

Definitely! We're actually one of the few local districts with spring break this week though. I only know of one other local district that has this week off. Everyone else is next week.

Out of curiosity, I looked up the Spring Break dates for the 10 ten school districts (by size) in Florida. The number of students is approximate, courtesy of Wikipedia.

Off March 14 to March 18, 2016:
~ Hillsborough County Schools - 190,000
Total: 190,000 students

Off March 21 to March 25, 2016:
~ Miami Dade Schools - 340,000
~ Broward County Schools - 250,000
~ Orange County Schools - 175,000
~ Palm Beach County Schools - 170,000
~ Duval County Schools - 120,000
~ Pinellas County Schools - 100,000
~ Polk County Schools - 95,000
~ Brevard County Schools - 70,000
Total: 1,320,000 students

Off March 28 to April 1, 2016:
~ Lee County Schools - 80,000
Total: 80,000 students

Obviously, next week is the big one. But, 190,000 kids is still a lot considering it's an adjacent county to this hotel.

[Slightly Off-Topic Observation: Every time I see figures like those above, I'm shocked at the size. The public school district where I was educated had less than 7,000 students.]

Yeah, they districts are pretty big! I just wish central FL would get together and have the same break calendar. I'm off this week and DS is off next week. He has to stay in Orange County for school and I really like teaching in Osceola County so we will always have different breaks.
