Just reported on WFTV Channel 9 and also on Central Florida News 13, Legoland has been surveying people if they would be interested in visiting Legoland if one was available in Central Florida. Reportedly those questionnaires has generated lots of interest.

Some of the possible locations Legoland could build are:

Kissimmee, near Old Town
Kissimmee, near former site of Splendid China (right off US192)
Winter Haven, near Cypress Gardens

The first two location would make sense but to even consider building down in Winter Haven, I believe, would be a poor choice.

I'm sure we'll hear more about this in the news in the upcoming months. This is only the beginning of the process of determining the need for such a park in the area.

We went to Legoland Deutschland (Germany) last summer. We were one of the first to stay in the onsite Pirate themed cabins. My son and daughter loved Legoland. It was a day and a half park and then we had pretty well done it all. We dropped way too much money in the shops.
The cabins were nice with a porch, a double bed and a table and chairs in the first room and a bunkbed in a small closed room and a bathroom. It was like Pirate theming lite, when compared to Disney theming. The best thing at the cabins was they were grouped about 8 double cabins per group and there was a large wooden play structure in each group. Ours was a pirate ship and there was a Knights fort, A Castle, A rocket ship and a racetrack.
The only thing that was missing was the Disney service. The German people are very curt, and very impatient when you don't understand them, yikes a day and half was enough for me!

We're annual pass holders at Legoland in Windsor, England. Yes it is near the castle. :thumbsup2

Our park is very much aimed at under 11's and for kids who like the gentler rides. Compared to other parks in the London area, Thorpe Park and Chessington World of Adventures, it's a cleaner, altogether more pleasant experience. :)

Oh and the fireworks displays around Guy Fawkes night are spectacular!

If it is anything like the joke of a park they put in Schaumburg, IL then NO NO NO! That is the worst "park" I've ever visited.

I think what they put in Shaumburg was a Legoland Discovery Center as opposed to a Legoland Theme Park which is what I assume they would do in central FL. Although I live in IL I've skipped the Shaumburg thing as it looks like a waste of money for what they put in. I have, however, visited the theme park in CA and my oldest enjoyed it. My twins were way too young to ride many of the rides because even the gentle ones had height restrictions starting at 34 inches and they were an inch to short to even ride a jeep ride. My son was so upset he couldn't get on a helicopter ride. My 4yo at the time loved it and got to do a lot. So even though she enjoyed it, it wasn't a good place for toddlers, unlike Disney :) I think if we go next time we're in CA we'd enjoy it much more as a family they would be 3yo and could do much more. It's cute, but it's for a very specific age range: 3-11 or so.

As far as I'm concerned the more the merrier. I'd love to see a Legoland theme park similar or even better than the one in Southern California.

The more choice we have the better. Since a lot of the best theme parks in the world are in Central Florida a new Legoland theme park would have to be pretty nice in order to compete with the other giants on the block.

I think it's a good idea.
I'd probably go check it out if given the chance..
