I'm working on my Christmas shopping and wondering, do Legos go on sale for the holidays? I'm assuming the Minecraft ones don't, but how about other sets?

Thank you!

There are usually some lego sets on sale during Black Friday sales. it never seems to be the set I want, but I generally see some options.

You will see them on sale. Lego has 20% off usually on their website and toys r us, walmart and target usually have some sales but usually on the really expensive sets or the ones that the kids don't want. Also watch for coupons for Barnes & Noble. Their coupons are good on any of the sets they sell.

I agree with Black Friday weekend sales as being fairly reliable date for sales of some sort from Lego.com. It has gotten less generous over the years though, and I think last year was 10% off (vs. 15% off the previous year) if you hit a certain dollar amount, free shipping, an exclusive set thrown in if you hit a higher dollar target. I resold the exclusive set on eBay for a little profit. I also shop through Upromise and get 10% cash back too on top of whatever the sale is, and login with our VIP ID to earn Lego points too. Online shopping works the best for me.

I also check with Amazon on occasion, and peek in at FatWallet to see if there are any deals posted. I once bought a great set on Amazon for $20 less than through Lego and then it ended up discontinued and I sold it on Ebay for a 70% profit.

Those B&N coupons are great. There was one last year for $10 off a $20 purchase if I used a MC and I printed out several of those to use in the stores.

I was able to use a Barnes and Noble 20% coupon (in store) on a Minecraft Lego set last year on Black Friday. I was shocked it didn't specifically exclude Legos. Hoping for the same coupon this year!

I generally get them in July and January during target touclearance and save for Christmas.

Thanks everyone! I already ordered the 2 Minecraft sets after last year's crazy sell out online. But I still need the Lego Junior Batman and Superman sets, which I hope I can get on sale.

My feeling with Lego's is that if I see them at a lower than normal price (and I'm buying them) then I get them. Sales are rare, and EXTREMELY rare to see more than 20% off.

Toys R us, in my experience is usually the worst place to buy them (even with coupons). Target occasionally has sales.

LEGO sales are not rare. Amazon especially consistently has a decent selection in the 15-30% off range.

As of last month, Barnes & Nobles coupons can no longer be used on LEGO, however.

I make a Wishlist on Amazon for the ones my DD wants and then starting around late Oct I start checking for sales weekly at Amazon, Target, TRU and Walmart. Her birthday is the week of or week after Thanksgiving and then we have Christmas so I usually try and get a bigger set and a midrange set. I usually manage to find the best price on Amazon and Target if I hit it right. TRU marks their Legos up, so it has to be a REALLY good deal. I haven't paid full price for a set once doing this way.
