Yes, fellow DISers, it's that time of year again!! Go get your Lego City Advent Calendar early this year before they sell out!!

I received an email from Lego yesterday featuring their Advent Calendar so I knew it was time to head over to my local Border's Bookstores with coupon in hand. I went to two Borders today and picked up two of them -- one of the stores had 3 on the shelf and the other store only had 1 left. I found them in the Children's section by the other Legos and toys, but in the past when it's been closer to Christmas I have seen these shelved with the next years' calendars.

This Borders coupon is good for 40% off and expires Mon 11/1,but you know they will have numerous coupons between now and Thanksgiving/Christmas.

On the Lego website it's $34.99 and at Borders it's $39.99. With the 40% off coupon it's only $23.99 + sales tax. You must be a member of Borders Rewards to use the coupon and it's a free membership (or you can pay for their new enhanced $20/yr membership for an additional 10% off of everything -- even if you use the coupon). You can sign up for membership at the store.

This year's calendar has 271 pieces.

Is it me or was this less expensive last year?

Happy shopping, DISers!!!

"Is it me or was this less expensive last year?"

I could have sworn it was less last year too!

I saw these today. If you are in Cincinnati, the Borders on Coletrain has 5 or 6 of them. I almost bought one with my coupon but used it on a Blu Ray pkg. I kind of wish I'd gotten the calendar, I've never seen them and from the box the pieces didn't look that cute. The pictures you've got look good, though. Oh well, maybe next coupon ;)

I got mine at Borders last year, too. I hope a new coupon comes out soon!

I got mine at Borders too last year, using the 40% off coupon. I have stalked our Borders (maybe helpful for you, Labdogs) and they have yet to get them in. They did say if I called and they had one, they would hold it for me.

We found them in DTD last month, so I got 1 of each (I have 2 boys) and had them shipped home. I didn't want to risk not being able to get one. Our naughty Elf brings them on Dec 1 to help- the boys count down to Xmas.

The saver in me was twitching in paying full price, but the mom in me felt a bit better!

You're not mistaken they were less last year.

They had them at Target for $29.99 less a $5 coupon - the Target start price was the same as on the lego website.

I bought mine on the Lego site a month ago. I actually bought both advent calendars. The City one will be our December countdown. The Kingdoms one we are going to open somewhat soon to do a countdown til Daddy comes home from his current deployment!

i would really like to get this, but can someone tell me is it like a traditional advent calendar with boxes you open to get stuff?

How big is it? where do u keep it?

Oh thanks for posting and I am thrilled there are 2 different ones! With 2 boys it was torture last year opening one every other day. Now they can each have their own!

it the size of a shirt box- about that and yes traditional open one box a day. Ours stays on the bookcase. It's not the most decorative one but the boys loved opening this one!

thanks!

i found it on barnes and noble online for $26.95 before any coupons!
gonna buy it now!!

I just did a quickie measure and it's 15" X 10" X 3" (approximately)

There are little perforated cardboard doors to open each day. Super cute. I usually keep it on the kitchen counter until the tree goes up and then it goes under the tree.

HOLY SMOKES! go to amazon and look at some of the prices for the older advent calendars! Might be worth it to stock up and sell at a later date. They have one from 2 years ago for $150!

Thanks so much about the head's up! I just ordered mine. This is the first year my little girl is really into legos so she is going to love this!

Uh oh, just FYI I ordered the advent calendar from B&N last night and got an email this morning that my shipment was delayed 5-7 days. Hope I actually get it! I seem to have a tract record with these things that once it is delayed it keeps getting delayed!
