Legitimate Work from Home Companies?

I passed the kgb test. The web research was tripping me up but I slowed down and realized there were some trick questions. I was told that I would get an email for the training. How long should it take for the email and how long does the training take? Just curious about what to expect to happen next. TIA.

I've been doing work on cloudcrowd too. I still haven't seen any editing work available but I have a system for looking up websites and can do those pretty fast. I did a couple of cataloging sporting goods tasks but got rejected grades. I thought I did it correct so I'm either missing something or what?? Anyone else get hung up on those?

I passed the test on Friday and received my email with the training link on Monday. You have a week to complete it. I just finished mine tonight. Did it all in one sitting - about one and a half hours. Now I'm waiting on another email to begin simulation (answering texts). Good luck!

I managed to catch more work on CloudCrowd on Sunday & again yesterday evening. Sunday I "Reviewed Website Selections" & got my credibility rating up a bit. So then yesterday the notice of available work said that what's available will be determined by your rating. At first it appeared that there was a "Review Products" job but by the time I read through the instructions it said there was no longer anything available. So then I did the "Find Websites" task. That was a pain. I found it pretty time consuming and at least about 50% of the time after I'd found one I thought was an acceptable site whenever I tried to submit it I got a message saying they'd already been told about the site.:headache: So I felt like I wasted a whole lot of my time on the task. They accepted 2/3 of what I submitted but the 1/3 they rejected lowered my credibility rating by 5 or 6 pts.

I have been reading on the eHow forums of several people getting their accounts either closed or put on probation after attempting some of the newer tasks so I think I'll just avoid those until I read of more success with those. The instructions on the "Categorize Products" one look complicated. I think they're still tweaking the system.

For those doing kgb, I think they have too many agents working now. It seems harder to get questions and I am making half of what I was before. Kind of disappointing there. I did some clud crowd stuff too and I did the one where you find the info about a product and catagorize it. I got rejected as well with the one I submitted and I know it was right. It had all the info they were looking for. I rejected a few of them that were wrong colors and totally wrong ID numbers and 2 of my rejections got rejected as well. I really think these guys don't have it together yet. It's a very poorly run company.

I lurked here for quite some time before jumping in. First of all, let me say that I am not at all interested in phone work. I hate the phone to begin with and have always preferred the written work.

I checked out CloudCrowd, but have given up on them. The only assignments I'm interesting in are the rewrites of poorly written english texts, but everytime I check there are none available.

I am now employed by about 6 different writing co., and have had 4 articles published. I'm also writing for a couple of academic companies. I've accepted 2 offers to co-write books.

I can't believe all this has happened in the last 2 weeks. Literally, my first job acceptance was Demand Studios 2 weeks ago today. I can rarely find articles on there that I feel comfortable writing about though.

But all of this is thanks to this thread. If I hadn't seen it, I never would have started into all of this, and I am very grateful to you all. I am taking disability retirement from my job, and I needed a way to make up the difference between my salary and that of disability. I think once I get organized, that will be fairly easy to do.

Again, many thanks to you all.

btw, I'm still waiting to hear from LeapForce and About.com. Those seem to be the real biggies! (although I saw an opportunity to write a doctoral dissertation for $330 today - Hah! Besides being philosophically opposed to that, the money is peanuts for the work that would be involved! Plus it would be an insult to anyone who earned a doctorate legitimately)

I was glad to find this thread. To those of you out there doing cloudcrowd, is there still any work with them going on? And are most of you using a fake FB account or are you using your regular one? Still trying to figure out what to do before I jump into this...

Ok, what exactly is this cloud-company? What do they really DO, MAKE, What is their purpose for BEING a company?? Are they really a legitimate company....??

I've been reading about this and just have to say, What the heck is it really about?

What is the point of this company -- why are they in existence... if there really IS a company?

My cousin works for a consumer action / protection group and you can not believe the SCAMS out there, especially with the current economy and so many people being desperate for money. Also, the pyriamid type / multi-level 'marketing' , ie. people sign up people, who sign up people, who sign up people -- but there's really no product or purpose!!

Anyone remember back in the day, before the internet, the work-at-home jobs like "Stuffing Envelopes" - a SCAM! Or Assembling Clowns - people would buy the parts, put together semi-cute clowns for the company - but one big problem -- they were never 'good' enough and the company would reject them. IOW, people bought, assembled and were stuck with boxes of perfectly good clowns that they essentially, had just ended up buying! BIG scam.

These scam jobs were all over the news shows and newspapers, again, before the internet.

Again, with the internet, why would there have to BE a company like cloud whatever?

I would just hate to see anyone here get scammed. Kinda like, if it sounds easy to be true, then it is. Just be careful guys.

RE : Cloud Crowd

I'm not saying it's good or bad and I haven't signed up so I don't have experience but I looked up a few things (google) online and there were a lot of hits for Alex Edelstein and the information matches up from many sources including a personal webpage and social/professional network sites. He's a millionaire involved in a great number of things from real estate, gemstones, micro finance, tech and seems to have the finances to fund a start up. He's also listed as a board member of Kiva (vouched for by Oprah a few years ago, I think?), which is involved with lending micro finances to other countries with the intent to help people. None of which have been China that I've seen, mostly South America, Africa, Cambodia and Vietnam.

Using Facebook really surprises me and sets off alarm bells but the information seems legit, if only that there's a face behind the company!

This webpage name has been around since 2007 and is paid until 2014, it looks like they have several suites in Las Vegas but they didn't want to give a contact number.

There was a previous post asking why clicking cloudcrowd goes to maginottech.com and the contact listed here owns both domains. They might have run out of bandwidth (understandable) and had to re direct traffic for a bit or somebody in there type in the wrong address while re configuring something. The info from maginottech however comes up empty, it's the same owner but no street address or contact number.

Great info! And thanks for reminding me that google is my friend :lmao:

Ya know, I still can't tell what the company really does or what the purpose is for their *company* , ie why they exist --- but maybe thats the point?:rolleyes1:

Not an expert here but I've been doing some work on CloudCrowd for about 3 or 4 weeks. I first read about them on the eHow.com forums. In a nutshell here's what they're doing. They have different tasks for hire and they're pretty much related items. I think in the end, someone at CloudCrowd will approach the companies behind these websites & show them an example of their before & after and try to solicit a total re-write of the whole website...here's how it goes:

FIRST, there's a task to find and submit poorly written Asian websites that have an English translation page. They must have a minimum of 80 words on their "About Us" or "Company Profile" pages. You must also be able to find a legit email address on their "Contact Us" page. The wording on the sites needs to sound like they wrote it in say Chinese and then maybe put it through a software translator. So it's really wonky sounding with words & language we don't really use in corporate America. (Like the site may say "It is our pleasure to be serve you" or something goofy like that.) The worse it is the better. You submit the URL & email and if it's not one they've already been told about then you are eligible to be paid 17 cents for each one. The NEXT task is REVIEWING these URL's & emails - they should be quick to complete & pay only 2 or 3 cents each. You test the links found in the first step & make sure they actually open a page with a min. of 80 words in poorly written English & see if you can find the email on the website (I copy the text into Word & do a word count if I think it looks close). The link provided has to open to the English page. You shouldn't have to hunt for the link to switch it - that should've been done by the first person. You give the find a grade of poor / weak / good / excellent and approve it or reject it by following their criteria. THAT is how the first guy gets paid - their find has to be approved or rejected. The GRADE you assign affects their Credibility Rating. They don't get paid if it's rejected for not being crappy enough & their rating will suffer if they don't submit good stuff!! The reviewing task is done by more than one person so that they can ensure all the reviewers agree on the site. It's kind of a majority rule thing. If they don't do it this way then people approve any old thing just to move on quickly & get paid. If you don't agree with the majority then YOUR rating will take a hit. Then NEXT they have a task to rewrite these badly written pages into proper English with good grammer. These tasks SHOULD take the longest to complete so they pay the most. FINALLY they have a task to review the re-written text that someone else just did!! You are given the orig. URL and the new text to compare. You need to give a grade & approve or reject the work. So you are basically judging your peers work. They need to have made a significant improvement to the original text. Sometimes they really may have to have put some thought into what the company was trying to say. And sometimes it's still not well written.

CloudCrowd is still very new and they still have a big learning curve going on. They adjust what they pay per task based on the work being submitted & update that daily so you know if today it's 2 cents or 3 cents each or whatever. They ARE trying tho to get their act together. I can tell you that I have emailed them with questions several times (support) and they answer me the next day. They are working on making an appeal process so if you get rejected on a task you can find out why & appeal it if you feel it was wrong. They are still sort of in a Beta state but I have high hopes for them. I've seen a lot of improvements just in the past week or so. They also publish update letters to let people know what's going on. That's more support than the eHow folks (owned by Demand Studios). The eHow site is SOOO buggy & I am making more per day on CloudCrowd than on my eHow earnings.

Anyway, CloudCrowd is legit & pays thru PayPal. If your work is approved by 5:00 pm Pacific then you get paid the next day. I am not a fan of their 2 newest tasks tho (Categorize & Review Products). I think their instructions are long & tedious and the pay is not enough for the time spent. I would like to try to rewrite text but have not caught that job yet as available. It may be that my Credibility rating is not high enough yet. I have mainly been doing their "find non-US websites task" and the "review website selections" task. I signed up to receive emails when work is available and that's working pretty good. I just have to keep watch for the emails - which right now seem to be coming in late afternoon / early evening (Eastern time). Their batches of work are getting bigger & I hope eventually that they will have work available just about any time that I want to work it. Again, I chalk it up to growing pains. I'm getting faster & faster with the work tho. My credibility rating is improving too (up to 80 now) which allows for more tasks to work on. I hope eventually it's high enough to get to re-write text.:thumbsup2

Initially they had a problem with people doing really crappy work just to submit stuff & get paid for it. So they're working constantly on improving this Credibility Rating system to make sure people do quality work. They have to have some sort of system in place or else people will scam anything.

I thin kthey have slowed up on the paying. I got all approved Friday and stil lwaiting to be paid. And the time before that took a few days as well.

Me, too...still waiting. But I've been paid for previous work so I'm not worried.

I've got a whole $1.20 coming to me!! LOLOL It's fun & easy though...if there was more work (which there will be someday) it would add up pretty quickly, I think.

Sorry to ask the same question but I am still wondering if the majority of people here are using their regular facebook acct. or if you have set up an alternate one just for cloudcrowd? Thanks.

I just got paid from CloudCrowd. Their earnings page / history doesn't appear to be updating properly but I can see all of my payments on my PayPal history. Some of the ones I had that were "awaiting review" finished processing too. Like the other day I did 23 tasks & 2 were held. One just went thru as approved & one was rejected as weak. They are randomly selecting work to be checked by hand or something so that's why sometimes a few get "stuck" or delayed a few days I think. I still have a few that are waiting for approval. It's only a couple of bucks. I'm not gonna worry too much about it as most things have been processed timely.

I go thru my reg. Facebook acct. There's a little icon thing down on the bottom toolbar - I click on that & it takes me straight to CloudCrowd. It's not like I have CloudCrowd stuff being posted all over my wall. I don't see the need to complicate it with a second FB acct.:confused3

(PS) There are 3 tasks posted as available RIGHT NOW although I did not get an email yet...

(PSS) I am still shying away from the Categorize & Review Products tasks...I think their processes still have some kinks & I don't want to waste my time & get rejected.

Hi! Nope, I have a fake FB account. Just used a fake name and an email addy that I keep for stuff like this. When you register for CloudCrowd, you will have to give them your real name, I checked and that is in thier terms and agreements policy. If your fake FB email is not the same as your paypal email (mine wasn't) you can changed the email so that only cloud crowd will know.

I had quite a bit of work over the weekend. I was paid today in two portions but they still owe me about $8.00. I don't know why it was broken up into portions since all of it was approved already. Long as they pay me though, I don't care!

I've almost finished my kgb training then I will just have the simulator portion to do. So far, all of the quizzes have been easy, for those of you have passed, is the simulator as easy or will it be harder? Not looking for any answers mind you...just wondering what to expect.

tatehermosa

You were the one that posted about working for leapforce, right?

Sounds like it may be just what I am looking for, can you share a little more about what you do? Am I correct in assuming that this is not a call center, no outbound or inbound calls? I'm not really a phone person, I worked call center work for years and really detest it, I'll do it again if it's all I can find but would rather not.

Thanks
Angela
