The concern deals with the risk of placental abruption (premature separation of the placenta from the uterine lining) caused by the sudden stops and starts. According to the American Pregnancy Association there are no studies documenting a problem with roller coasters (they still recommend caution), so I wonder if it has ever actually happened.
That is EXACTLY what happened to me when I lost the baby that I lost (and it had nothing to do with going on roller coasters...I think I told Carla the whole story before). It isn't anything I would ever want anyone else to have to go through ever. I think it has more to do with trauma to the uterus (like actually being hit in it). So I would stay away from lap bars.
