Leftovers at TS restaurants

We are on the free dining plan and there is no way that we are going to be able to eat all the food that we get. Most of the posts that I have seen mention leaving the food on the table. Does Disney allow you to have doggy bags? I was looking at some of the menus and it seems like some restaurants have some appetizers that we would love to just order as a to go and snack on later (cheese trays, etc). Or they have desserts that could be snacked on after half an hour walking burning off the huge dinner. My 2 boys don't eat a lot during a meal but they eat constantly. Yes I know it's a bad habit and I need to change it but not in the limited time before we get to Disney! Thanks...

Yes, you can take your leftovers. My son is a night muncher. If we are going back to the resort after a meal & can refridgerate the leftovers, we do bring them back with us.

We've not done the dining plan, but for the Fantasmic Package we have always had to have some food-at least the desserts-boxed up for later.

Now there is a visual, people walking around WDW with doggie bags.... :rolleyes1

Maybe that's why, whenever I do it, they give me styrofoam containers, no bag-they don't want that visual! Yes, I've done it several times-taken the food back to my room, popped it in the refrigerator. Did you know that Stickey Toffee Pudding from Rose and Crown is an excellent breakfast food?

What about taking dessert back if you've done the all-you-can-eat buffets?
Say you fill up on the food and want to take your dessert to go can this be done at these?

I would not think so - usually all you can eat is just what you can eat at the restaurant. I doubt they provide any to-go containers.

I hear you on the taking desserts with you. I don't know WHY this didn't dawn on me during our last trip... there we were eating lots of TS meals because we paid for the dining plan and none of us are huge eaters. Ofcourse some were buffets- but on the ones that weren't.. I don't know why I didn't think to ask for our dessert to be made to go! Especially like at Primetime cafe... the s'mores dessert was delicious but we all had our own dessert and I only ate 2 bites out of that! We were so full with the MEALS, the desserts mostly got wasted. I could have taken it with me. Would have been fine for a few hours I bet (considering what it's made of) LOL

I'll be asking for desserts to go this next trip- you can bet on that. LOL

they will provide containers to go....keep in mind, the food will need to be refrigerated....:)

before all the rooms had fridge's we had taken food to go and came back to the room to no fridge (forgot) and the one time we didn't bring a cooler!!

Thanks for the replies. All of out TS meals are for dinner and we plan to leave the parks right after we eat so we'll be able to make it back to the hotel to refridgerate everything. Plus we will probably be bringing a softside cooler with us in the park for drinks so we'll have something relatively cool to store it in temporarily. Thanks again...
