What do you do when you bought a child PHP when your son was 10, did not use all of the days, and now he's 12 and technically is not a child anymore? I've been told both that if there's only a couple of years difference, it doesn't matter AND you should turn them in and pay the difference. Has anyone dealt with this issue?

Just take the ticket (and your son :p ) to Guest Relations at the park and explain that he WAS a "child" when you purchased the pass and is now not a child. They'll give you an "adult" pass for him that has the same number of days and plusses on it as the one you turned in. It shouldn't cost you anything.

They will probably not even issue a new ticket. You can still use the remaining days on the ticket since you purchased it when your child was still a child in Disney's eyes. One thing disney doesn't do is penalize children for growing up so no need to pay the difference. We had this happen with an AP for my daughter last trip and they told me to just use the one we already had.

We have the same concern over tickets. The last time we went to WDW was in 2001. My stepson was 8 at the time. He is now 11 and very big for his age. (125 lbs, 5 ft. 2 inches, size 8 mens shoe etc.) Should I bring his birth certificate to prove that he is only 11, since they can tell by the ticket the last time it was used, if he is only 11 they will know he was a child when the ticket was purchased.

Also, we are planning on going to blizzard beach the first day, can we have the ticket exchanged there?

Never ever pay the difference between yesteryear's child price and today's adult ticket price.

If any ticket agent tells you this is unavoidable, don't do it and try a different ticket agent.

If your child is only slightly older he can try to use the ticket without upgrading or exchanging.

We had the same question, so I e-mailed Disney through the Disney World Website & here is their response:

Dear Cathy,

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort.

Unused days on admission tickets (which have no printed expiration date) may be
used for admission to our theme parks on any future visit; however, when
children become older than the established "child" age range, they will require
the adult priced admission media to enter our theme parks.

In these circumstances, existing passes may be presented in person at any Guest
Relations location, to have the tickets exchanged for the required media (at no
additional charge). As another option, the remaining value of the tickets may
be credited toward the purchase of a new multi-day ticket.

All ticket upgrades must be done in person. Please present your tickets at any
theme park ticket window or Guest Relations for assistance. Some variables may
determine if an upgrade is possible.

For up to date information on ticket media that is available for the WALT DISNEY
WORLD Resort, please visit our Online Ticket Store at the following URL:

For any other questions regarding theme park tickets, please call 407/560 PASS
(7277).

Hope this helps. :wave2:

If you bought them when he was 10, you don't have to do anything as they are adult tickets. Child tickets are for ages 3-9.

In the event what you have are actually child tickets, you can just put them in the turnstile and use them for him. If you'd feel better, you can take the ticket and your son to any Guest Relations and have the ticket exchanged for an adult one at no charge.

You will never be charged a price difference unless the child ticket you seek to exchange was completely unused.
