Just a FYI- for those of you happen to just LOVE to take up the left lane on the highway and hold the rest of us up.......MOVE IT OVER!

I don't get it. I live in NJ and I have been driving for over 20 years. It has always been a joke about the PA drivers coming into NJ and taking up the left lane! But its true! All of this time-I thought, maybe its my imagination, sure a lot of people do it, but without a DOUBT PA drivers are the worst!

I was driving home from the Jersey shore Wednesday afternoon and can I tell you how many oblivious left lane drivers there are? 90% of them were from PA.

MY ONLY ADVICE: LOOK IN YOUR REARVIEW MIRROR EVERY FEW MINUTES TO SEE IF ANYONE IS BEHIND YOU THAT WANTS TO PASS-- THEN GET THE HECK OVER....AND STAY THERE! I see this all the time- If you are very lucky they will move to the right for you AND MOVE BACK TO THE LEFT AFTER YOU PASS! :scared:

OK- I am done......but move it! :confused3

Pa driver here!!!

Here's my philosophy and I'm sticking to it. If the right lane is clear AND smooth (no pot holes or just in dire need of repair), that's where I'll be.

If not, I'm going left.

I'm usually driving above the limit so if I'm in the left, and I can get over without slowing down and getting stuck in slower moving traffic, I will.

However, if I'm already doing 75 in a 65 and you come flying up on my butt, I ain't movin'! If you tailgate, I ain't movin'! If you flash your lights, I ain't movin'!

Play nice and I'll think about it.

I agree, but.......

If you are in the fast lane and and find yoursef getting angry - take a deep breath and remember to leave the house earlier. :thumbsup2

My son and I were traveling in the slow lane and in the fast lane was a driver who was angry at the driver in front of her for going "too slow". As the angry driver tried to get around the "slowpoke" she lost control and essentially toppled through 4 lanes of freeway and fell on top of our car (passanger side where my son was). We escaped with relativly minor injuries. (kept me off work for 4 months)The officer said that if I had slammed on my brakes - we would have died - all because someone was angry at the flow of traffic.

Ok, MY rant is over. :wave2:

The left lane should be used for passing, especially on a 6 lane freeway (3 lanes in each direction). On a 4 lane freeway, a driver shouldn't hang in the left lane if they are not going the speed limit and/or flow of traffic. Seems simple and common sense, but common sense is not very common.

As I see it it really has nothing to do with people leaving the house earlier, or being more patient.
The left lane is for PASSING. The right lane is for regular driving. If you are just tooling along in the left lane, and someone is behind you and can't get around, then YOU are the problem. It's not the fact that they need to leave the house earlier.

I am a very patient person, and I like to follow the rules. I don't like to pass on the right. I like to drive in the right lane, and when I need to pass, I pull into the left lane and pass. What I cannot stand is when some moron thinks the left lane belongs to her and only her and she can do whatever she pleases. That includes apply make-up, talk on the phone, read the paper, etc. Look in the mirror once in a while!

I was not late- actually I was on my way home. There only reason I get angry at the situation is, there is no one in front of the person in the left lane and they are holding up all of us behind them! !!! :furious:

and Charade if by chance you are doing 75 and someone comes up behind you doing 80- what do you do then-- hog the lane?! The person that wants to get past you has to stay behind you b/c you choose not to get over if you can? :confused3 and you better be careful- people that are tailgating or flashing their lights are a bit PO's to start with-- I would move out of their way. Not stay there and get them more angry. :guilty:

PS- I dont tailgate- you never know that the driver in front of you might have to do. BUT sure I will be close enough for you to see me though. I make it a habit to constantly look in my mirror, always checking whats going on behind me. I can see a car speeding up from quite a distance and I will most certainly move, even if I have to get into the right lane that is moving slower. Its just a courtesy to the upcoming driver, no matter how obnoxious they may be.

I have seen many visibly angry drivers going 85 plus (in a 60 mph zone) tailgating and flashing those in front of them trying to speed them up - those folks should not be allowed to drive until they get their anger under control.

I rarely see any one in the fast lane in my area going anywhere under 75 (65 zone) unless itis a total freeway slowdon due to accident or typical commute times.

You had my agreement until your PA theory.

BTW the left lane is for passing. NOT for who wants to drive the fastest. As long as the DRIVER IS PASSING other cars they have left lane privilege

:lmao: Usually the PA drivers are the largest out of state drivers I see in NJ. Sure NJ drivers do it- but I seem to notice PA more.

If this makes you feel better- there was a car from Maryland hogging the left lane the same day! :rotfl2:

SNIFF for a reason I can not explain it does make me feel better.

Always remember:

Anyone driving slower than you is a moron, and
Anyone driving faster than you is an idiot!

Why are you targeting PA drivers? I'm from PA - and I'm a very good driver. Thank you.

:sad2: :rolleyes2 :snooty: ::yes::

ummmm- because as I said, I am fr NJ and ......Usually the PA drivers are the largest out of state drivers I see in NJ. Sure NJ drivers do it- but I seem to notice PA more.

Isn't that hilarious philosophy from Mr Carlin???! :rotfl:

Well I find that most bad drivers I see each day have New Jersey plates. Why pass on the right and then slam your brakes on or you would have run over the car in front of me? The reason I am not moving over is that both lanes are full of cars and my lane (left) is going faster than the other (right) so I DO NOT NEED TO MOVE OVER FOR YOU. I am in the passing lane, passing others and going the same speed as the vehicle in front of me. So why do you think you own the road?

So then why insult PA drivers. You could have just said other drivers and not PA drivers.

:furious: I'm from NJ and I'll do 75 usually on the parkway or turnpike. Don't mean to target the PA drivers but it's usually the PA drivers I see doing it. And what's with some of the PA drivers putting their blinker on to change lanes but turn it off and then change lanes? :rotfl:

NJ drivers do the left lane thing too, but I notice an awful lot of PA out of state drivers doing it.

Sorry- I didnt realize this was a politically correct thread! :rotfl:

Sometimes you can't get over to the right lane, because impatient people won't wait ten seconds for you to get over - they just cut around to the right and glare at you as they whoosh by.
