I just started reading this series. I have found it VERY tough to put down. Heck I am already more than halfway through it and I just started it about a week ago. Luckily I have the first 6 books at home ready to go...and will get the rest soon...

So has anyone read these? Any thoughts and opinions without giving to much away. I have seen the first and second movie, but book is much better.

How funny! I just finished the first book last night! I'm hooked. I have a bid on ebay for the next six books in the series. Buying them all retail will get expensive!

I just finished reading The Glorius Appearing. I have to say that although I enjoyed the books...the first few were much better. I was the same way though when I started, got the first 6 for Christmas a couple of years ago and blew right threw them, could not put them down. Good series and I am hoping my son may be interested in the kids series.

We listen to them on unabridged talking books for the blind. When we started, the series was well on the way, so we were able to read the first 5 or so in quick succession.

After that we had to wait for each cassette to come out months after the book. We are a few books behind now.

I saw the first movie, and couldn't bring myself to try to see the second. Most Christian films are just bad and heavy handed.

However, it is an excellent book series!

I'm on the last book which was released a few weeks ago. The first few were by far the best but I wanted to see how the whole thing wrapped up. I believe there are 12 books in the series. I've read them as they came out so there was a lot of time between readings. I have forgotten some of the background as I went on. You should enjoy reading them back to back.

Although I love the series IMO, it went on several books too long.

I haven't read them, but my bf has the whole series. He says it's really, really good. Guess I should pick them up one day and read. :)

I had just started reading the series prior to September 11, 2001. After that I was a little too upset to pick up the books. I need to get back to finishing the series.

I read the first several books in the series, but do not intend to finish it out. Haven't read any of this series in over a year. The first few books were indeed very good. But after those, it didn't take long for the writing to get bad. By that i mean some of the lines spoken by characters in the book. And the story hasn't been taken in the direction i would have loved to see it go. Its too bad cause i thought it had such a promising start. But after 5th or 6th book, I just couldn't bring myself to pick up another, and i haven't missed it. Am i the only 1 who felt this way?

But i hope you enjoy the books. Hapy reading

I have read the whole series. I just finished reading Glorious Appearing 2 weeks ago. I was not impressed with this book at all. It seemed to drag on WAY to long. The story was just not interesting (the people story not the Jesus part. :) ) And I was really disappointed with the ending.

I have read the first 2 books and have seen the movie of the first book. It stars Kirk Cameron and Chelsea Noble. Not great acting, but it was pretty true to the books.

It is funny to read that some liked this, some liked that, and some liked the last book or didn't.

I read the entire series and enjoyed them very much. It made me think about where I am in my life and where I am with God. So it had a very positive effect on my life. I really did like the last book and the presentation of the end battle. It is a very good read. when I first came upon the series I had the first 8 books and binge read them in a week............hubby and kids were wondering what happened to mom and why so much take out was for most of the meals.
:p .

Funny this is posted right now. Several years ago my SIL loaned me the first two books on tape. DH and I listened to them and liked them, but didn't pursue the rest of the story. With the recent installment (Glorious Appearing) I decided it was time to read the series. I started with book one because it has been several years since I first heard it. I am breezing through book one and have two and three handy from the library. Our little town library has the whole series fortunately. I don't think that I will like book three (Nicholiae sp?). I can't stand any type of politics and I am already finding myself just "tolerating" the political parts of book number one. Hope they return to the "people" issues, personal relationships, that sort of thing, or else I will definitely lose interest.

Does anyone else keep their Bible handy to reference while they are reading these? ....................................P

I just started this series 2 weeks ago and I am already half way through book 5!! I hate to put it down. Like Betsyt82, I have been doing some "self-reflection", looking for some answers and these books have really helped shed some light on things. They have had a very positive effect on me! I had never even heard the term "Rapture" before picking up these books. I had no idea what it was and last week after finishing the first book, I saw a bumper sticker at my DDs dance studio that said, "In case of Rapture, this car will be unmanned". It caught me totally off guard and really made me think!

I found myself reading the Bible last night to cross-reference one of the passages in Appollyon(book 5). Now I will keep the Bible handy while I read the rest of the series! I just bought books 6-11 off of Ebay for about half what it would cost me at the bookstore!

I have the movies but I haven't watched them yet...I guess I don't want to be disappointed because the books were so good.
:wave2:

Funny you should ask...I did the same thing, got started later, BLEW thru the first 4 within days. They were excellent! Seems as time has gone on, they have been dragging. The last one I have is book 10...couldn't get into it. I saw at the store book 12 is out....now I have to plug back into book 10, read 11 so I can see what happens in book 12....finally!

I am the same way...I find myself just kind of glossing over it until I get back to the parts with Rayford and Chleo. I am not into the whole political either

I agree. I have the last book but I have to drag myself through the next to the last book. I am mostly through it. Too much dialog.

Dawn,

The last book is even harder to get through. I'm not finished yet and it's been a few weeks. The first books were read in about a day apiece.

Did anyone notice that the book list in The Glorious Appearing says something like "Coming Soon: The Prequel and the Sequel"?

I remember reading that there were supposed to be 8 books in the series, and I think it would have been much better if they had stayed within that number, some of the books were really dragged out and the content could easily have been combined.

Over all, I enjoyed reading the series, but I have a problem with how some of the events were portrayed.

I am reading the last book in the series right now, and I have loved the series. I appreciate how the authors were very careful to stay true to Scripture while adding in a fictional plot line as well. I think it's a well written series, though I do think they could've condensed it into fewer books easily. I'm not sure what is meant by them being political, so I guess I haven't noticed it. I think the books are an excellent way to learn about the book of Revelation in an easier to understand format.

My DD and I started them about 2 or 3 years ago and went right through the first 5 or 6. We own the tenth one and haven't even read it. Unfortunately, they really slowed down at the end.
