Hello fellow Disneyites....need some expert suggestions and observations....we have been attempting to make dining reservations for the 4 days in Sept....9th--13th before we do the 3 day Wonder....yesterday called about 5 times....LeCellier was never available....not even for lunch...then the last time I just happened to ask if it was available for dinner on 9/11....and it was available for 7:40 that night....my wife and I are not real fancy eaters....kind of meat and potatoes....but we have heard that the place is great(although I did read the thread about how horrible it was).....so, that being said....what do you think? Is it great? We have never eaten there and we have been doing Disney like forever....and secondly, will we be out to see Illuminations at 9?

Thanks for your imput.....
Tom

Our family loves Le Cellier. It is our favorite place to eat at Epcot. We are a family of 5 with 2 especially steak lovers. We eat there each time we visit. Unfortunately I am trying to get a dinner or even lunch reservation for our trip next week. I have called several times and so far no luck. I had this problem 2 yrs ago and went to the restaurant that morning and was able to get a late lunch. We'll try that this trip if I can't get PS before the trip. It seems harder to get PS unless you call way in advance since so many people are now doing the dining plan. Basically I recommend Le Cellier if you or most of your party enjoy steak. There are other entrees but steak is the specialty. The kids chocolate mousse is fun and delicious. The 7:40 time would be cutting it close to seeing Illuminations, depending on if they seat you at 7:40 and how quickly you are served. We usually have to wait about 15 mins to 1/2 hr with PS seating for dinner. Good Luck on your dining plans and enjoy your trip!:wizard:

We think it is wonderful, both for lunch and dinner

Just added Le Cellier ressie-lunch. I had a look at the menu, and I was sold!

We love it and have been trying to get a ressie for the last 3 years. (We went to Le Cellier the first time in 2002, and thought it was the best meal of our trip. :thumbsup2 ) We finally got a ressie for this Sept. 5, however it's at 8:50. I started calling in April as soon as we had our hotel reservations made, and for our 10 day trip that was the earliest time for any night of our stay. :confused3 So, you got pretty lucky with that one. If you love steaks, you will be very happy. Their other entrees are very good, also. And the creme brulee and chocolate moose are terrific, too. We can't wait! :woohoo:

It may be close....getting out to see Illuminations. The last time I ate there...we had to wait 40 minute for a table (for 3) starting from our PS time. And we weren't the only ones waiting a long time to be seated.

The food is excellent, even if somewhat overpriced for what you get. The last time we went there all I ordered was the cheese soup -- but since that's what I had been craving for months that was more than enough for me! :thumbsup2

It's a good, but not great, steakhouse. If your town has a good one, there might be better choices in Epcot---even for meat and potato fans. For example, the fixed menu at Chefs de France is not at all too fussy. Rose & Crown is another "safe" choice. San Angel has a couple menu items that aren't too threatening either.

If you really want to do the steakhouse thing, though, and also want to be sure to make it to Illuminations, why not give the Yachtsman's Steakhouse a try?

I second Brian Noble's recommendation for Yachtsman, although obviously a more expensive choice. I never go to WDW without a visit to the Yachtsman... the filet is just awesome, and the bread with the garlic to spread on it... omg... :)

Was able to make a lunch ressie at Le Cellier for our upcoming trip. I've not been there yet, so am really looking forward to the experience.

I love your website! I so miss the south. Destin was such fun to visit. I've wondered if Needa's This and That is still there. What a great shop that was!

Your articles and features are like a breath of fresh air. Thanks!!

All of us really enjoyed Le Cellier the last time we went. It was very good. Everyone in our party, except me, got some sort of steak and loved it!!! We were actually seated right away, but we went in January.

If the yachtsman is +$ for your meal, I suggest the yacht galley.

I think you will REALLY enjoy it. It gets very little press, yet IMO it remains one of the best values on property.

Thanks so much for your kind remarks about my website. I really appreciate it.

The website is a fairly new venture for me (I've had 3 issues... winter 06/07, spring 07, and the current one summer 07.) It is such fun to put together, and I am very glad you enjoyed looking around. Right now I am trying to update the articles seasonally, and I hope to go bi-monthly or even monthly at some point in the future. Since it's only "little old me" :flower3: working on the articles, I don't anticipate going to monthly any time soon.

Again, thanks for your comments... and drop by as often as you like. ;) "The door's open..."

Le Cellier is great! I highly recommend it! And I would imagine you will be done and out of there in plenty of time for Illuminations. If memory serves, we had a reservation around the same time last summer and had plenty of time to kill after dinner before the show began. :)

It's not worth the money...

Don't get me wrong, it was decent food, but honestly our meals at Brown Derby and Ohana were much better quality and service. The steak at Le Cellier was not really all that exciting, nor was the cheese soup. Now the steak and desert at Brown Derby I still drool over when thinking about them!

So, in my opinion, skip it. It doesn't live up to the hype. BUT REMEMBER, this is only MY opinion. Other people have had amazing experiences there. Honestly, take the advice or leave it, but the only way to see for yourself is to try it. :confused3 You may find out you really love it, or you may come out with the same opinion as I have. But that's the fun of life lol.

We enjoyed our meal there so much last November that we knew we would be needing ressies for our upcoming Sept. trip! Can't wait! Try it...what have you got to lose?

The signature dish for dinner is LeCellier Mushroom Filet Mignon and I highly recommend it. My husband has tried other steaks there and his opinion is that they pale in comparison to the mushroom filet. I personally have not been able to try anything other than the mushroom filet. Give it a try -- it's great!

As you'll see Le Cellier is fast becoming one of the toughest reservations to get. We made our reservations about a month ago for our September trip and there was nothing available for the entire 9-days we're down there (at least nothing available outside of 8-9pm.) I doubt our 2-year old daughter would like to eat that late so we'll just have to skip it this year.

We may try to get ressies when we get down there though as just thinking of the Filet Mignon and the Cheese Soup makes you want to go back. It's a really good restaurant so you should try it if you've never been there before.

Our family loves LeCellier--guess we're just big cat food fans. ;)

Re: Yachtsman--we've not tried it yet because it's 2 TS credits.

It is worth it they have awesome food. I went thru the same thing last year trying to get a reservation and could not but while at epcot my husband and I simply walked into Le Cellier to see if they had any cancellations and they said they could seat us in about 15 minutes with no reservation and they did. I know it dosen't always work out that way but if you can't get in try to do what we did..Sometimes it works...Good luck
