Can someone who went to Leceller with celiac tell me what the chef cooked for you ?

I would LOVE the mushroom steak there and the cheese soup are either of these going to be a no ?

Thanks for the help .

Sarah

The cheese soup has beer in it, so it's a no. I've had the mushroom steak several times, though. We've also had the duck confit, tomato stack, and NY strip. Most of the other items I've had aren't on the current allears menu, since it looks like they've gotten new things.

The dessert options are the creme brulee and sorbet.

Thanks for telling me about the beer as I had no clue sence its not something I drink , nor cook with .

Ok so what Appatizer can you have there ? I have 2 kids and adult eating gluten/wheat free on this vacation . Thanks for any help!

Ingredients change thus I strongly recommend you wait for Disney to respond to your request for special dietary needs. I found out at Ariel's Grotto in DCA that pico de gallo is not gluten free, um, us hispanics do not add gluten so that was a shocker and goes to show you how innocent things that you eat every day can have gluten.

The chefs will walk you through the menu.

Most items on the appetizers should be able to be tweaked to be gluten free but I cannot find that right now.

The blue cheese might not be gluten free and the polenta also.

The pico has wheat. Yikes. You are right to say Hispanics don't normally use any type of wheat product in pico. All fresh vegetable ingredients.

BTW we leave in 8 days to go to Disney thats why I am asking these questions now . Should I just start calling the restruants now ?

You need to go to FAQs and read it. You need to contact WDW special diets so they can send you lists of gluten free foods so you can plan ahead of time. I have a list for DLR and know when I go to a restaurant what I can have. As stated on another thread you need to contact them if you want something special done like gluten free pot roast. You need to have the ADR noted that you are GF so they can be prepared. They have to plan their day around special needs and make sure they have everything in stock.

that will help you out with finding out who to write and call.

I have read the questions and answer , I have all the list but it does not say on each menu what is safe it just says a chef will talk to you . For example for Leceller it says Rolls , steak and salad and that is it ! It does not say what kind of steak and such thats why I was asking . I also do not know when is to early to call each restruant . Like we do not go to LeCeller till April 6th and 50's Prime time on April 8th So When should I start calling ? My DS is super Super worried about Desserts and he thinks my other kids will get somthing yummy while he is stuck with nothing . So I am trying to make sure we know what to expect befor we show up or eles we will have major melt downs . This is honestly going to be the first time someone eles is cooking for us sence Oct . I have not trusted one restruant yet .

When you talk to Brenda with WDW Special Diets, she will make a note of the gluten issue in all of your reservations and have you fill out a form stating which people have the problem. If you want, she will also have each of the chefs call you at home. I love this. It really gives us a good sense of what they can and can't do for us, and in some cases, the chefs have asked us a bunch of questions about what we like and have made special things just for us. Last year at Akershush (is that how it's spelled?), the chef even made amazingly delicious gluten/dairy free chocolate chip muffins for my daughter. This most recent trip (February), since I knew we'd be eating many meals at the hotel, I asked to speak with a chef at the hotel as well. They were truly amazing about checking into things for us and even ordering in a few things that they don't normally carry.

Almost every table service restaurant that we've eaten at has both gluten/dairy free brownies as well as gluten/dairy free ice cream. We've never managed to get a reservation at Le Cellier though.

You need to contact the special diets team- See info in FAQ's

I have never had a problem at the 50's eating gluten/ wheat free - The fried Chicken is a no go though.

BTW you can even get gluten free beer at Sunshine seasons
The one chef there cracks me up- he goes I can do a BIG dessert or I can do gluten free beer or I can do a little dessert or I can do ALL 3

Most of my desserts at Epcot are the yummy oh so good huge hunk of Chocolate cakey type brownie . Also Ice cream with fruit - The tapioca rolls are great too-

Also Sunshine seasons in Epcot sells the Gluten free brownie  at the bakery- it is prepackaged and you can always grab one and add to the dish of ice cream in case you think he wil be unhappy with just ice cream.
you have to ask at the bakery counter for it- they are not out in plain sight.

we Went 2 weeks ago an I was NOT happy with the one chef at Crystal palace- he was not willing to walk the buffet with me and I was worried recipes had changed as they can. INSIST on the chef walking you through a buffet and make sure to tell your server you need to speak to the chef or Manager as sometimes the wait staff DOESN'T read the reservation slip.

Has anyone eaten lunch at LTT lately? Where there any great gluten free choices, besides the typical burger? We're trying to decide if we should eat here.

That was one of my daughter's favorite meals. The chef made her a delicious pasta dish. We were there in August.

They do have rice flour to make fried chicken, it just takes a little longer than the regular fried chicken. Ask them about it if you want the chicken (dd loved it.)

My husband has celiac and we have had no problems at LeCellier. The steaks are fine, for dessert I think his only choices were ice cream or a maple creme brulee. As far as the appetizer, he opted for the tomato stack (the cheese soup is out as well as the polenta and sausage--the sausage is not made on site so the chef will not vouch for it)

As far as LTT, my husband also had a fantastic pasta dish for lunch (we were pleasantly surprised).

At 50's he enjoys the pot roast (it is actually made with prime rib)

There are a few QS places where you can get a burger on a pretty good bun (takes awhile longer, but worth the wait). I think Cosmic Rays in MK, American Pavillion in EPCOT, and ABC Commissary in DHS (not sure about AK, but they have GF food at Flametree BBQ):goodvibes

We have been very lucky at every restaurant we have eaten in, just be sure to ask to speak to a chef - you will find them very helpful.

Enjoy your trip
