My future DH and I are going to the world Sept. 9-16 for our honeymoon:bride: . I'm super excited, but I'm worried about one thing:sad2: . You see, we have a two year old son and this is the first time I'll be away from him for such a long period of time. Can anyone give me some encouraging words assuring me that I can do this. I know I'm going to miss him like crazy :sad2: and I'm scared its going to prevent me from having a good time. I love Disney so much and I have been planning this trip for a long time all the while driving my fiance crazy, I want it to be perfect. This will be his first time.

We left our 1 year old son to go on a Disney Cruise!! :scared1: I was so scared because there would be absolutely no communication for the four days we were going to be on the ship. But, DH and I had a wonderful time as long as we kept busy. We left DS with family members, so we knew he was in good hands. As parents we always spend so much time taking care of our wonderful children that we often forget to take time for ourselves. Don't worry about leaving your child behind for an adult only vacation...especially for your honeymoon!!

Enjoy the fact that you can go to DW without DS because in a few years it will be pretty hard to go without him...he'll put you on a guilt trip for not taking him once he's old enough to know what's going on!! :rotfl:

I think that's the key - leaving the chitlins with close relatives, e.g. grandparents or aunts/uncles. Someone they already feel secure with.

He's staying with my parents, so that takes a big weight off of my shoulders. I'm feeling better already. Plus I know I'll be bringing him tons of souvenirs home. I can't wait to get him his first pair of mickey ears.

Our last trip was December 2005. Our youngest was 15 months old at the time, so we decided to leave her with her grandparents while we took the older 2 with us. I was very worried about leaving her too, but I knew she was in good hands. I think it is very hard to leave your child for the 1st time. You will miss him, but you can still have a good time. Enjoy the time with your husband..........that time together is so important, too.

Thanks for the advice and encouragement. :)

You're welcome! Sorry it took me a few days to reply...we live in NW Indiana and got hit by that really bad storm Wednesday night. We were out of power for two days, so I had to catch up on laundry and housecleaning and the DISboards!! :rotfl:

My DH and I go to Disney every year - one year with the kids, one without. Even being young (now DD 12 and DS 5) they understand that mommy & daddy need some "alone time" and what better place to do that than Disney?? We have a fabulous time - but we are so lucky to have a wonderful family to watch our kids, so we don't have to worry about what's going on back at home.
