So I was thinking of leaving a daily tip each morning...hoping this will bring more towel animals upon our return? :) Wishful thinking??...

We always leave tips, have never recieved a towel animal. :confused3 We did receive a thank-you note once though.

We always tip and never got a towel animal. Don't set yourself up to expect one.. and then you'll be especially happy if you do get one. :thumbsup2

Tipping = appreciation for the mouskeeper and the work they do

Mousekeepers wanting to spread the magic = towel animals

Sometimes the two are related - sometimes not

I agree with the other posters. We always leave tips and have forever. Many times we receive towel animals; many times we do not. We get thank you notes relatively frequently at WDW and at other places.

At WDW, it hasn't really made a difference in terms of the resort itself. We were at Pop Century in August and received towel animals every day. At the same resort in February, nothing. At Poly, we didn't get any; at WL, we got them.

Ditto. Left a tip every day. No animals. We were lucky when they actually vacuumed. Hoping for better luck (and housekeeping) next time.

I agree that tipping has no bearing on towel animals. We always tipped $1 per person per day at POR, CS, CBR, ASmu and the Dolphin and never ever got a towel animal. Our most recent trip to POP (8/22-28) was a super duper budget trip for the DGDs. We tipped only one day (with a note for extra towels for the pool). We got towel animals every day. I think it just depends on the mousekeeper. Some know how to make them, others don't.

Just the two of us, we tip $5.00 a day. We do it to thank hardworking housekeeping staff.

....If I were bringing children to Disney, I'd plan to bring some little surprises. If the staff leaves towel animals, that's a little more pixie dust. Otherwise, it's lots of fun to just make some magic for your kiddos yourself.

Also keep in mind, not every Mousekeeper has the time or the ability to do towel animals.

We always tip and we always get towel animals. Some were large animals and some were small.

I have, on two separate occasions, left mousekeeping a note and asked if they would leave a towel animal. Once, our daughter was flying in two days after we drove in. I asked if they would leave her a special towel animals and they left a large bunny. The other time, it was our son's birthday and they left a Dumbo.

When we were at Sports last month, we had such a nice mousekeeper. She left animals everyday and one night my son's Pal Mickey was looking for us from the window! Very cute. I usually don't tip every day and didn't this time either. When I was leaving the tip at the end of the stay I was concerned whether we'd have the same mousekeeper. Fortunately, I saw her so I knew she'd get the tip. Makes me think about tipping on a nightly basis. Anway, I agree with the posters that say it all depends on the mousekeeper more so than the tips.

I always tip and because I know how hard those housekeepers work, I tip them well. Sometimes I get a TA, sometimes not.

I don't think it has anything to do with tipping.

It doesn't have anything to do with tipping. We've checked into a room and have a towel creation (actually a picture frame which was very unusual) waiting for us. So we didn't even have a chance to tip. We've been to Disney World many, many, many times and always tip the housekeeper. The only time we've consistantly gotten towel animals was at Pop Century and we weren't the only ones. All the rooms around us had them.

Based on my experiences, I concur that tipping and towel animals don't go together.

I've tipped and gotten towel animals;
I've tipped and not gotten towel animals'
I've tipped and not gotten toiletries or towel animals;
I've not tipped and gotten towel animals;
I've not tipped and not gotten towel animals;
I've tipped and gotten flowers (picked from the grounds of POFQ - very nice mousekeeper).

It really depends on your mousekeeper.

Last trip:

5 tips (each day) = 1 towel animal total

Not a good ROI. :)

I'm considering taking things into my own hands and learning how to make some towel animals before our trip. I think it'd be fun to leave some for the housekeeper,maybe with the tip tucked in. :goodvibes

Peg, I think that is such a sweet idea! You're bound to put a smile on your housekeepers face. :thumbsup2

I read on this board about getting tips together before you leave home. For me it worked great! I had something for each day, just left the rest in the safe. No scurrying around trying to find ones or a five.

There is definitely no trick to it, tipping or not. I think it depends on the housekeeper. During the month of August I had two seperate stays at Saratoga Springs. One time we received tons, the other... zip! Go figure!

At AKL we were checked into a dirty room which hadn't been used (or cleaned) in weeks we later found out. But we did have a towel animal waiting for us when we arrived...too bad it was actually covered in a thick layer of brownish dust. Very disgusting!!

Once we finally got moved to a clean room (9 hours after check in, but not that I'm still bitter :rolleyes: ...), we never saw another towel animal. And yes, we tipped every day.

On our last trip, we had a towel animal waiting for us upon arrival. We left a tip each day, but received no more towel animals. We were happy with the one we did get though. :)
