we are leaving at 5 in the morning which means we have to be at the airport at 3:00, I'd like to wear something really comfortable on the ride out but not sure what to wear. what does everyone where when they fly...

thanks Ardelia :jumping4:

OHHHHHH! It's going to be COLD at 3:00 in the morning!! Better bundle up!! You can always change when you get there!! Have a GREAT time. It's beautiful this time of year in WDW!!! :flower1:

I like comfort on a plane and I also find planes on the cooler side soooo I often wear a windsuit which I love to have in Orlando. A t-shirt under the jacket and sometimes even shorts under the pants if they are calling for hot weather when we arrive. It saves packing space as well if I'm wearing it and easy to strip off and throw in my carry-on if its hot when we get there.

No hot weather in Orlando this week, unfortunately.

Ok, if you have pants with no metal on them, that is good for going through the metal detectors. (no underwire bras too, but I am guessing you know that.)

I agree with some layers so you can take some off if you get too hot.

I also think loose comfy dresses are always good for sitting long times, but since I am a nursing mom I don't get to wear those for a while.

Oh and here is my tip for kids if you are traveling with them (but I am going to assume you are since this is the family forem.) Dress them in what you are going to fly in and just pick them up out of bed and into the car. Take care of combing hair and brushing teeth at the airport if needed. Or let them show up at the air port in P.Js (I have) and change one you get to the gate and settle down (works better with younger kids who are don't worry what others think.)

I agree, just put them to bed in the clothes you want them to wear, and then pluck them out of bed and throw 'em into the car! We are leaving late at night, so we're dressing them in their sweats and comfy tops so we can just put them into bed once we check in at Pop Century....tonight!!!!!!! I AM SO EXCITED I CAN'T SLEEP!!!

My fav outfit for travel are capri's and a sweater twin-set. Comfy in almost any kind of weather except the bitter cold. Layers I think is the key. have fun!!

We ALWAYS travel in jogging suits. Either the pull on Yoga pants or the drawstings with a hoodie pullover and shirt underneath or the zip up jacket with shirt underneath. It's always been perfect. Way comfy and if you get warm, take the jacket/hoodie off. If you get cold, on goes the jacket/hoodie. We LOVE them. It's what I live in. Today is Friday and I have my new drawstring pants with a cute blouse and tennies on here at work! My kids DD and DS wear them on the plane too but hubby can't get past his jeans LOL, he usually does wear the pullover over a shirt though,

lol, underwire bras are fine....they've never stopped me.

jeancbpugh, if its cooler than windsuits are perfect, just dont strip, lol. We always go in Jan/Feb... one day its cold and the next is 80F...one never knows.

I love the ide about dressing the kid (only one in my case) the night before. We are also leaving at 4 in the morning this week. He's only 2, though, so I may just bring him in his PJs. Maybe even board the plane in them - that way he'll sleep, right? OK - Wishful thinking. :earboy2:

I've never had problems with underwire bras, but I do wear shoes without laces so I can pop them off and on if I need to while dealing with the stroller, toddler, etc. and not having to bend over.

I'm planning on wearing a long loose dress (with pockets! important for tickets, paperback book, anything else that needs to be stowed immediately)and taking a sweater.

Underwire bras has recently become a problem with airport security since the Chechen terrorist incident at the Russian school (September 2004). There have recently been reports of numerous women being searched extra carefully when wearing an underwire bra. I haven't had to fly since then, so I'm not sure just how bad it is.

i usually wear comfy cotton pants (like sweats), t-shirt (short or long sleeve) and bring sweatshirt. Kids are usually dressed the same or in pjs.

Yes, underwire bras are more scrutinized now.

Ditto on slip-on shoes. I wore knee leather high boots once .. never again. lol

I read about airline safety experts saying that cotton and more natural fabrics are better to wear in case of an emergency (ie fire). No panty hose. Synthetics are flammable. I usually dress in layers, like pants, top, and a light jacket.

I always wear a jacket or overshirt with breast pockets so I can easily leave my ID and tickets there. Lots of airports check and it's a hassle to always dig them out unless you like that way better.

GL!

I always go in the summer, so I have no idea what the weather will be like for you. But I always wear a skirt *&* a cute shirt....and flip flops so i can take them off on the plane l0l. But they made me take them off when I was going through security....I have NO idea why.

I flew to LA in Sept and had no trouble with security and my underwire on the way there. On the way home.....got buzzed!! and I told them there was no way i was taking off!! I need all the support I can get! A woman wanded me and let me go.
We leave in 20 days and I just know I will get buzzed again. I will send hubby through, then the girls and then me. Oh well!

I've flown down three times, each time we had to arrive at 2:00am!

All I can say is wear LAYERS. It may be freezing cold or chilly when you board the plane but once your in Florida it's warm. Also, when you're on the plane the temperature can vary from Cold to Warm. I suggest everyone in your party wear a tee shirt and a pair of pants. Then, on top of that you can add sweater, coats, vests. whatever is needed.
**Note if you take of any layers while in the airport or on the plane make sure you don't leave them behind!**

Now knowing the temperature of wherever you live, I can only give you tips assuming it will be cold. I live in Scarborough (Ontario, Canada) so each time we go down in January it's snowing

Always something with a non-binding waistband. If jeans are not too constricting, jeans. Light jacket, short sleeved shirt, shoes that are easily removed, purse with deep outside pockets,(ID, boarding pass, etc.)

We flew in Nov. I dressed the kids in jeans, t's and hooded sweatshirts. Luckily it wasn't that cold here(NY) so they were warm enough just going from the limo to the airport. On the flight home, they wore the same things and I wore sweatpants and a tank w/ a hooded sweatshirt over it. They made me take off the sweatshirt-I almost died-standing there in a tank top, I felt bad for all the other travelers-noone should have to see me in a tank top!!! Thankfully, they let me keep my underwire bra on, lol!!!!!!!!
