Leaving pets when your away

We take our baby, Lucy, to the vet who changed her life forever...we had gotten her from a rescue league & (shockingly to us) we discovered she was VERY sick...after going back to the rescue league & sharing my concerns for her health, a worker there told me we could bring her back, but there wouldn't be much they could do for her...gasp - horror....we took her to the vet we'd had for a previous pet who needed considerable care for diabetes. Thanks to their sincere TLC, Lucy recovered, started eating for us, & has been a loving, happy member of our family for 3 years now. She LOVES going to the vet (even after she's had her shots, she's still happy!). We think she knows they saved her life!!!!!!!:yay:

Our dog(s) stay with grandma or aunt Julie when we are away. They spend lots of time there visiting and overnight stays, so they are very comfortable with them and I think they feel they are on vacation too! My lab Maggie (no longer with us) would sometimes go into a funk & cry a little when we would go, but after a day or so, she would get over it and be ok. My cat stays home where she is happiest. We leave lots of food & water and if we are gone more than a week, aunt Julie will check on her and clean her box. She is lonely and very loving when we get home, but I know she would hate being anywhere else. I always bring home new toys and a special treats from our trip. They each got new food dishes with the Disney cats & dogs on them. Jodee (lab) got a Minnie ball & stuffed Mickey. She loves them, because she knows they are my favorite to play with her.

When we travel, our sweet little Boston Terrier, Lil, goes to PetSuites. She LOVES it there! As soon as we pull into the parking lot and walk her to the reception area, she's straining the leash to go in back with all the other dogs. PetSuites have little cubicles with youth size beds with TV's turned to the Animal Planet:rotfl: She adapts very well and I believe she thinks SHE'S the one on vacation:goodvibes

I have a 9 yo pomeranian called Daisy. We are inseperable and unfortunately she gets severe seperation anxiety when I am not around. Luckily we live next door to my mum and dad so Daisy will stay with them when we travel to WDW in Oct. Even though it is only March, I am already starting to worry if she will be okay. To be truthful it sort of plays on my mind while I am away and ruins my fun a bit. So, to make me feel better about leaving her with mum and dad (who still are out sometimes during the day as dad works and mum does voluntary work) I have asked my old 88 year old Nanna to come and stay at mum and dads for a week to just sit with Daisy, which she kindly said she would do for me so that makes me feel a lot better. I think I will leave her a card with a couple of hundred dollars in for her to enjoy herself with, she won't want it but I feel so greatful that she will be with Daisy that I really want her to have it. pluto:

I do. I'll leave Pepper my 5 year old Pomeranian, home with my dad. He gets spoiled rotten there. I sure will miss him though. I have never been away from him for this long.

We have 2 cats named Shakespeare and Socratease and 1 dog named Karma. We leave them home and one of my moms close friends comes over and pet sits them while we are gone.

We leave our cat at home with lots of food, water, and a clean litter box! ;)

Our dogs usually stay with my DBiL, but they are going to be out of town as well. We are planning to board them at a center that lets them stay together (they would be lost without each other to play with and :lovestruc on). It's hard to leave them, but they are on :cloud9: when we return.
