I have a Canon digital Rebel camera. I have recently purchased a UV filter, a circular polarizing filter, & a cross (star) filter. I already have a mini tripod & a large tripod, a remote, & a 75-300mm lens as well. I guess my biggest ? is when should I use a circular polarizing filter. I tried some indoor shots with it today and they seemed a bit dark. Should it only be used outdoors? I had understood that it helps reduce reflections through glass, & also helps with color outdoors but that it would also help make other colors "pop" is this true. Can anyone help me better understand this filter?? Also any other recommendations on what I have & when ti should be applied would be greatly appreciated. I don't ahve a whole lot of knowledge on it but want to take some GREAT pics in Disney!!!! :wizard:  :wizard: Thanks :thumbsup2

I only use it if there is some serious glare I am trying to avoid, common use is when the sky is a little faded and they try to make it a deeper blue(colors pop more).

You lose about a stop of light, so you need to have enough light to use it properly.

Very useful when photographing water in sunny conditions....outdoors with glare is best. It kocks the glare back and reduces blown highlights.

Ok I get it so outdoors only & in daylight. So my reg UV filter I can leave on all the time. Any suggestions otherwise??? What settings do you guys most often use in Disney?? Thanks for all the help!

I keep the UV on at all times. The polarizer for cutting reflection off of water, glass, and leaves. It can be amazing to see the depth of color in leaves when you have a filter citting some of the reflection. You can use the polarizer indoors when taking shoots of say fish tanks....but it will defintely slow down shutter speeds.

As far as settings I usual use P mode and set my ISO for 200. Otherwise I might shoot auto, portrait, or landscape.
