I am from Massachusetts too, and I used my Verizon Wireless phone in Orlando in November 07 without a problem. I am by no means an expert on cell phone plans, but my bill was the same the month I went to Florida as it always is. Your best bet might be to call the customer service # or pop into one of the stores and find out for sure before you go, having cell phones makes life so much easier in the parks!
Check with Verizon to ensure you have nationwide calling when you are away from home. Otherwise you'll have some fat roaming charges that hit you for .15-.20/minute. Tell them specifically where you'll be and they will help you.
Double check that. I have verizon wireless to and I'm never charged roaming at Disney. In fact, there are very few places in the country that go into "roaming" anymore.
I'm a little confused
Our Verizon phone plan we get 500 minutes (family share plan) and we can use them whether we are down the road using our cell phone or if we are in Disney. It still comes out of the minutes. We've even used our minutes in Puerto Rico.
Do you have a special phone plan?
Also, if you have not done an update on your phone you may want to. Verizon can tell you what it is.. its like star something, then I think you press option 2. (Doesn't use any minutes) and it adds new phone tower signals.
There is a such thing as roaming if you do not have a nationwide calling plan when you are out of your home area. Plain and simple-- ask a verizon rep.
....you guys are right! no roaming charges anymore. and to upgrade your phone(because of the new towers going up every day just press; *228 and wait for the prompt to pick option 1. that's it!!!!! i'm all set to go!
