I have read that sometimes at US and IOA they will open the gate up to 45 mins before the scheduled open time, but that all the rides may not be running that early. Will we know ahead of time which rides will be running? Also, If you have a ticket to both parks, is it time consuming to hop from park to park? I am still trying to decide if we will go into US 1st and ride HR3, and then head over and do IOA and come back after that to do the rest of US. It would be great if US opened early and HR3 was running - what are the chances of that? Would we be better off just doing all of US, and then heading to IOA? My daughters will want to do all the big rides and we will only have 1 day to do both parks. I was also wondering, if you have a ticket to both parks, do you have to exit the main entrance of one and go over to the main entrance of the other, or do they have a separate route between the parks for those who have tickets to both parks? Thanks

At Universal Studios, they usually open Shrek and Mummy first if the parks open early. At Islands of Adventure they usually open Hulk and Spiderman first.

Not usually time consuming unless there is a long line at the turnstiles.

Not likely to be open early but you can do Mummy first and then go to HR3.

I like to do IOA in the morning since afternoon showers can occur. Morning showers are less likely so I do IOA in the morning and the Studios in the afternoon.

You have to go through the normal turnstiles to enter. There is no connection between the parks. You can exit and enter near the Hard Rock Cafe though. It can save a little time (if that turnstiles is open).

Hey, that was more than a couple of questions. ;)

I will be at the parks on Christmas day.Can you tell me more about the parks opening early?

Last time we were at US it was The Simpsons and Jimmy Neutron that opened early
