Leaving in 8 weeks and SWA STILL has not lowered...

I am scared of stopovers really that is why I dont book with someone else. I got going down to disney Dec 3 for 59.00 was thrilled with that. Now return 145.00 ouch is all I have to say. They dont seem to have the internet specials like they used to. Right before the internet specials stopped I could have got going down at 98 but then without warning the internet specials were cancelled and all I have seen is 145.
Is there dings out there for sunday travel anyone know? I have noticed a lot of weekday travelling but not sundays???

Question if I book at 145 now and I get a ding or a better rate will they credit my creditcard ???? I have heard of ppl getting the difference put back on . I dont want credit from them for further trips at this time none are in the works.

Just checked out airtran for our dates and yes you would save money at 97.00 a ticket but you are stopped over from 1/2 hour to 4 hours in atlanta , that is crazy!!!!!! I checked jetblue and none are non-stop flights and most are more expensive.
I think we should email southwest and ask them why they dont have internet specials offered on their website. I think that is where we were getting the great deals offered to us. I might be wrong though but that is my personal experience.
What other airlines fly out of Buffalo I might be able to check out to get a better deal???

Just booked United yesterday for $78 connecting flight in Washington(Dulles) for Friday after Thanksgiving. Leaving 6:10am BUF arriving 11:07am MCO. Layover 1hr 20min.

I'm not playing the game anymore!!

If anyone is traveling light and do not need to check bags. The sale to Fort Lauderdale connects in MCO for the 7:10am flight out of BUF. You could just not connect once in Orlando. There seems to be flights ranging from $59 to $94 available depending on which day you leave. I actually called SW to see if we could check bags just to MCO; but they said no way.

It has been my experience that if you stay on the same flight times and number than I have always been able to get the money back on my Credit card. I did it 3x last year and I book 4 friends this year and I got all the money back for them as well.

I dont think this is a SW isolated issue. We are just not seeing the seat sales out west here either. I know for a fact if I wait until after Jan 1 I will see a seat sale however that is cutting it close for a family of five leaving for WDW on Feb 6.....my credit card is ready and waiting and I will pounce!

Yes I hear you about waiting. I am looking to book a return flight for Dec 10 th and I am getting a bit worried that I am cutting it close not having it booked by now.

We got flights last December for $45 each way ... 2 of us flew return with all taxes included for $192 US.

I'm not holding my breath for a $49, but even a $79 would make me ecstatic right now.

1) do you remember when you booked the $45 flights?
2) what were the dates that you flew for $45 each one way?

I am holding a hefty SWA credit so am really hoping to book with them.

Hi Suzy. I remember the details very well, as I had not even been home 5 days from my Aug trip to WDW when it all happened.

It was definitely a DING - I didn't have it installed on my home computer at the time so I had to frantically call my DSis who booked everything for me. It came out end of Aug, and we flew down on Thurs Dec 1st and flew home on Sunday Dec 4th. Both were morning non-stop flights.

SWA has definitely changed the way they do their DINGS ... and it's obviously working for their business ... just makes US all CRAZY!

As for booking with other airlines, I'd do it in a heartbeat if they had n/s. Flew Airtran last summer with layover in Atlanta both ways. Going down ... 45 minute stopover, no problems whatsoever. coming home, they changed our flight time, 3 1/2 hour layover in Atlanta, and then our flight got delayed on the tarmack while we waited for mechanics, and then then a new flight crew to fly them all to Buffalo as a plane had broken down. Added another 1 1/2 hours to our time in Atlanta. Left the hotel at 9:15AM and pulled into our driveway in London ON at around 12:45AM ... it was an incredibly long day.

I know people who have cancelled and booked the exact same flights, and SWA would NOT refund their credit card. Even when they said they wouldn't use the credits within the year, they were advised that all they had to do was call back closer to the expiration date and they would extend it. So like every other business, it all depends on the client rep that you get on the other end of the phone.

I was starting to get really freaked last week, but I suspect it will be at least another month before the DINGS start affecting my return date of Dec 16th. I am still watching the other airlines ... let's keep each other posted on what we find.

Thanks so much for the info. I missed the end of AUG DING last year , but got the one the third week of Sept for last Dec flights!! So I know the DINGS you are talking about.

Wish things were as easy this year but obvioulsy are not going to be. Sure hope there is some sort of Florida sale soon for the fall/winter months but who knows?? I have also been looking at airtran and jetblue etc. but I don't like the stopovers due to problems that you just listed that happened to your family last year.

have you checked www.sidestep.com or www.kayak.com yet?
These web sites list most airlines (except SWA) at the same time. Much easier then looking up one airline at a time.

I will post back if I happen to find some good fares.

Bumping this back to the first page ... in case you missed Mousy's post about Dec and sWA -- they are having a great SEAT SALE for Dec. I just got my Sat. Dec 16th flights home for $54.88!

I came home sick from work today, so would not have even powered up my computer ... many thanks and big to my sisters who both called me to let me know about the sale! After the kiddos go to bed tonight, I can call CRO and register all of the info for DME ... I need those tags!

I know there were a few of us waiting for this ... hopefully everyone can get the flights they want at these great low prices.

As for me, all I can say is ...

In the reservations page...just click on Leaving from Buffalo...Going to Orlando and don't fill in the return flight to Buffalo.
