...and I am freaking out!!!

Anyone else go to WDW with your child's arm in a cast? I don't know if it is possible to wrap her arm well enough so that she could at least splash around in the pool a bit. I would appreciate any advice you could give.

I posted this on the CB too but so far had no responses so thought you all over here might be able to help me out. Thanks!!!

I would think thatthe cast is made of a water resistant material. I know they used to use fiberglass. I would call the Dr. and ask what she/he thinks. Also offer a worst case scenerio...getting it completely soaked on a water ride or "accidently" getting it submerged in a pool.

He said we should "avoid getting it wet." He suggested wrapping it in a plastic bag for showering and also offered a website, www.drycast.com, thinking maybe it had something for swimming. But really all they offer are plastic sleeves for showering. I figured someone here on the boards may have been in the same situation and came up with a good water resistant plan!

We were in the same situation this past summer with my son when he broke his arm right before our beach vacation. I found this website (www.xerosox.com). They sell a laxtex glove-like cover that fits over the arm. It comes with a hand pump that you use to create a vacuum seal. Very easy. It was a blessing! We used it in the pool, on the beach and even in the tub. Hope this helps. Good luck!

This summer my daughter broke her arm a week before we were leaving for the DVC resort in Hilton Head. I told the doctor that we were going and he put her in a waterproof cast. It was wonderful! She was not allowed in the ocean but she could swim in the pools. I had to pay $35 extra for the lining because insurance does not cover the extra expense but for us it was worth it.

once it is wet inside, you'll have to have it replaced. happened 2x to my dd. She thought it was wrapped well but water leaked it and it made her miserable.
