Hi everyone!

We're leaving in 2 days and now I'm unsure what to do about transfers.

We currently have transfers with Tiffany Towncar booked ($78 after coupon PLUS $20 tips so just shy of $100)....

BUT....after reading the other posts about disney transportation, I'm wondering if I should just rent a car and pay the extra....

We will be there 10 days....

In reality, how much TIME would we spend on busses (we're staying at POR) vs driving to the lots? We are AP holders, so I understand that parking is free....

PLUS...if we rented a car, we could eat offsite....

*sigh*

Any and ALL advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

Thanks so much!

Crystal

oh dear, thats a tough one.
We did not rent a car on only one disney trip (out of about 7) and that was fine. We were there for 8 days and did fine without a car. We did have a sick child and were unable to find Motrin at the resort store (Fort Wilderness Cabins) and somehow a cast member found out our problem and shortly after my DH returned without Motrin the cast member delivered it to our cabin! Any way the point is you will probably be fine with out a car.
BUT, if you don't mind driving off site (for some, it is too stressful to drive in unfamiliar places), it is nice to be able to go around the city or even out of the city to the beach or whatever. And it is nice to eat off site to cut down on some expense. You may break even as far as that goes especially when you add TTC and on site eating vs. rental car and some off site eating.
Have fun!

You are not going to save that much time driving vs buses UNLESS you are to be doing a lot of resort hopping for dinners, going to dt disney a lot, etc.

Having said that, there is no way I would be in Orlando for l0 days without a car.

I usually uses busess and my own transp. It depends on what we want to do that day.

Wtih l0 days, you might want to look around Orlando, do Celebration, Universal, eat offsite, shop offisite. Tons of things to do offisite.

Herc.

This has been debated before. In all of our on-property stays we've never had a car. It was really hard giving up that "control" the first time, but I found I really enjoyed letting someone else do all the driving. We have had rare times when the bus service was really slow, but for the most part WDW transportation has been very good. It always seems like a long wait for DD, but then I wouldn't want to drive around there. The only time we went off-property we took a Mears bus to Sea World, and that worked out fine.

Thank you everyone for your opinions!! :D

Decided after reading the posts and talking it over with my DH that we're going to stick with the Tiffany Towncar transfers - we're from Maine, and I honestly can't imagine trying to drive in Florida...cities...ugh!

Thanks again.......:jester:

Heading out this morning!!!! (staying the night in Boston before our flight out tomorrow morning!) :smooth:

Hey Crystal,
you could always rent a car for a couple of days while you're there. I believe National Car Rental has a station right on WDW property. Most resorts have a shuttle which will take you right there. So if by chance, you decide you do need a car, that's always an option.

We're staying at the Poly during Thanksgiving for 5 days, I'm not planning on renting a car but at least I know I can get one if we decide to go off-site (OH MY, did I say that out loud??)..

good luck and have a great trip

Thats a really good idea...hadn't even thought about it!! :p

Well...I'm off....I'll "report" back when we get back!!!! :jester:
