Just need to vent and look for advice! I'm leaving in 2 days, was supposed to be tomorrow but we pushed it back to Thursday due to my DD (10 months old) who has a fever (first one ever by the way) of anywhere from 101 - 103.8. The poor thing is miserable :rotfl2: I also am sick - and am on antibiotics for bronchitis. Thankfully we're driving and not flying so I don't have to deal with any of that airborn sickness stuff - but still. Any advice from other mom's who have had sick children days before leaving for Disney???:sad2:

No advice, but I am so sorry:sad2:
I hope you all get better and have a great trip!

Oh I dread this happening on one of our trips. I just finished nursing all of my little ones back to health a few weeks ago from some wretched virus they, no doubt, picked up at McDonalds Playplace. High fevers, nausea, sore throat, etc. I swear I thought they had swine flu (they didn't - pedi tested them for flu and strep). Mine were sick for a week on average but, after the first couple days the fever went way down and they were eating with just a dry cough left over.

I would just recommend alternating the tylenol and motrin and make sure she drinks alot on the road. I would bet money she sleeps most of the way. If you have a hard time getting her to drink my pedi had me freeze pediasure in popsicle trays. My dd3 couldn't get enough of them, even when her fever was 103.7! She ate one after another. Maybe you could bring some pops in a cooler buried in some ice.

Yep, been there, done that..

DS came down with strep 3 days before our big trip when he was 5, and it was in May! - I totally didn't expect it. The ped put him on an antibiotic that was twice a day instead of 3 times, so we wouldn't have to take it into the parks. (He felt OK, and was past contagious, by the time we left, but was still on the meds.) I look back on it as a hidden blessing because maybe it kept him from picking up something worse while we were there.

Anyway, best wishes for your little one to feel better quickly!

Last year we all were sick for our trip. It was our first DW vacation and we were soooo bummed when the kids got sick a couple of days before we left. Then the night before our flight I started, and the flight was ROUGH with all the pressure changes. When we got to the hotel to check in I couldn't even hear the CM talking to me. It was rough, but on the bright side it got us a free fridge at the value resort because of my DDs' antibiotics. My husband came down with it while we were there, now I don't know about your DH's but mine is a pain in the you know what when he is sick, and it was our first trip!!!!:scared1::sad2::mad:

We survived and we are going again this month as our make up trip, now that I think about it, that's a bonus to being sick on vaca as well...gotta love the make up trip!!lol!!

Hi,
My girls are almost 7 (twins) and 4.5. We have been to WDW 4 times with our kids. Every time, except for maybe the first trip when the twins were 14 months someone was sick, about to get sick or sick and we didnt know it (thats how it is when your child can't talk yet:guilty:) First, I would get in to see your pediatrician. I would run the idea of giving you a prescription for anti-biotics just incase by the doctor. Some docs are more willing to do this than others. Last time my pediatrician was duly warned ( I was right, haha oy) and when I called him from the middle of the MK I was prepared with the name and # of the pharmacy that delivers to WDW (Goodings..they deliver for $5 but do not take insurance...you have to submit yourself when you get home...all the concierges know this). Pump her with Tylenol/Motrin and just go...kids are so resilient and unless your child has a complicated medical history she'll be better in no time. I would however get her in to see a doc ASAP though. HTH and good luck.
:)sss

I wouldn't put a 10 month old in the car with a high fever, especially a first time fever up to 103.8. Check with your dr about leaving for this trip and be prepared to spend time in the room the first few days with a cranky sick child.

Poor baby, oh and you too. Being on antibiotics, you'll likely start to feel better sooner rather than later. And the baby, if today or tomorrow is day 3, she too should start feeling better by the 3rd day. (Hopefully).
I hope all works out for you, and you do have a great time!:wizard:sending you some pixie dust!
