Leaving in 12 days...two quick questions....errr...3

We're leaving in 12 days for the Poly! Yay!
Three quick questions, thanks so much in advance.

1. 3 people in my family have 7 day base tickets, I'm about 99% sure we'll need to add park hopper. Can we add it as soon as we get there or does the ticket need to be used first?
2. If the ticket has to be used first can it be upgraded anywhere or does it need to be done inside the park?
3. If we need to cancel an ADR, does it need to be done at least 24 hours in advance or just by midnight the day before?

1) You can add it anytime you want, up until the end of the last day on your tickets. Using the tickets first or not doesn't matter.

2) You can upgrade at any park ticket booth or any Guest Relations inside or outside a park or at Disney Springs.

3) Someone else will need to answer this one.

1) I recommend to family and friends to add it when you need it. If you end up not needing it, you saved money.

2) If your ticket was part of a package deal (with room), resorts can sometimes do this from concierge. Standalone, just stop at guest relations on your way into the first park your actually hopping to is when I would do it.

3) I've been able to do it by midnight but I've also had it not work. Do it as early as possible and if you can't and get hit with the cancel fees, call up the next day and ask for them to be removed. the only time I actually missed I got it refunded and I had no special reason why I missed.

3. As long as you cancel online by midnight or call, even day of, you will not incur a fee. It's a true "No Show" fee. As long as you let them know you need to Cancel, they'll remove your name from the reservation listing.
