Hi all...I just found this forum and we are leaving for WDW in only 8 days! We planned this trip pretty quick and will be staying in the Wilderness Lodge for 8 days & nights...I'm trying to get as much info as possible in a short time. It's been several years since I've been and my kiddo's and dh have not been at all yet. I'm trying to have an idea of what to do when we get to the parks each day...and still take it easy and just enjoy ourselves. We don't have any character meals planned and may not be able to (3 year old dd would love it though). I just found these boards yesterday and I've got the biggest info list you can imagine from just a few hours, LOL...I love Mr Potato Head and didn't know you could buy parts at the toy store in Downtown Disney...thanks for that tidbit!!! Look forward to talking to everyone and hopefully planning a winter trip too:earsboy:

These boards and the people here are awesome. I can't imagine planning a trip without spending several hours here doing my homework! You will have a great time, but even more so if you know some of the hidden secrets from the visiting the boards. It seems to me that a lot of people don't know how huge WDW is and without a plan, they don't end up having a great time. Plan your days, take a mid day rest and enjoy every minute. You will have a fab vacation. Dawn

My suggestion would be not just to research others' posts, but to post as many questions of your own that you can think of. Add them to this thread, or start up one or more others. Most of the questions here get at least 1 or 2 answers fairly quickly.

As for character meals for your DD3, I would be that you might still be able to find a PS sometime during your stay that includes characters. Is she a big Pooh fan? The Crystal Palace must surely have at least ONE slot open for a breakfast or dinner during your stay. I say pick your #1 choice for character meal and call to see what you can get. It may not be as late as you think (unless you want breakfast with Cindy. That's probably not going to happen).

Good luck!! Let us know what you need help with :)

You may be luckier getting a PS (priorty seating) for a Character meal than you think, but if you can't you can always hop the small boat from WL over to Fort Wilderness and see the Chip and Dale campfire. They have a campfire and sing-along and then Chip and Dale come out and do autographs and they they show a movie on the big screen(you don't have to stay for the movie). It is a lot of fun and free!!! You can take snacks and s'mores fixings our buy them there at the chuckwagon.

Fort Wilderness also has a petting zoo (free!), several playgrounds, and pony rides ($3, I think).

Have fun planning!!

Jen -

Are you staying in the Villas or the Lodge?

I am sure you can get a PS at Whispering Canyon (in the resort) no characters but lots of fun. They have the kids get up and ride Hobby Horses around the dining room. Also, make sure one of the kids asks for ketchup;)

Chef Mickey's is also great for breakfast or dinner and if you are flexible you might be able to get a ressie. Check when you arrive even if they tell you there is nothing now.

Enjoy
Sandy

I think I'm looking forward to the roasted marshmallows over at Fort Wilderness with Chip N Dale more than anything, LOL!!!

try and try again for character meals ..

Last yr Iwas uable to get anything B/L/D for Crystal palace. This is my favoirte meal so Iwas bummed. I tried just a few days after Icould make PS's too. I kept calling back and checking. Ended up making PS for the dinner at 1900 park fare. Arrived at WDW and tried again. Still no luck. Finally the night before our last day, called one more time and was able to get the Crystal palace for breakfast. I cancelled 1900 PF and di a little dance around the room LOL...
