We are leaving bright and early Saturday am for a relaxing week at the beach, my family is so excited but we have never been to this area! Any tips of what to do or places to go?

There are plenty of threads on the boards about this area.

Here's a good one on Destin which is just across the bridge:

You've got your pick on anything between Pennsacola and Panama City. It all depends on how far you want to drive. If you want it all local, then most of the stuff to do is in Destin where it's more built up.

We always have to eat at Pompano Joes when we are there!!! This time of year make sure you get there early or be prepared to wait for a couple of hours!!!

We have had a very cold winter in the Southeast this year. Make sure you plan accordingly in terms of clothes and activities. temperatures look to be in the 60s all week with lows in the high 40s.

We love The Track in Destin which is an amusement park and the outlets are awesome.

You must eat at Dewey Destins, a local favorite. Just over the big bridge in destin. You get off on the first street into destin to the left and turn at the sign, go thru the trailer park to drive to the water to eat there. It's a hole in the wall but very fresh seafood. Worth finding if you can. Very cheap.
