Every time I plan a trip, I am so excited. When it gets down to a few days left, I get so nervous. I can't sleep or eat and get so upset. Also I start thinking, "What have I done". I shouldn't be going. I should just stay home. I think it's worse this time as I'm traveling alone with 2 kids. Since I'm leaving very soon, I'm about ready to have a nervous breakdown.

Anyone else get this way or am I just weird?

I'm always sure that I forgot something very important or that I will miss a connecting flight.... but I don't doubt going. I know alot of people who do get very anxious traveling tho, so I don't think you are alone.

Tickets! Tickets! Tickets! Anything else you forget you can buy .... at Theme Parks prices.... but, you can get it.
Relax and have fun!

I am always a nervous wreck while getting ready to leave but once I pull out of the driveway, after checking the house three times, I am fine. When I pull on property I am better than fine. LOL

Make your plans and then let go and enjoy.

I like to think of it as nerves people I imagine get before going on stage or the start of a big game. The payoff is well worth the nerves or anxiety that preceeds a wonderful vacation. Enjoy!! Relax! It is all good!:sunny:

ladydancer, I know just how you feel! We leave on Wednesday evening and I am so worried about getting everything ready and not forgetting anything. Also, getting to the airport on time, flying with 4 kids, the works. I just keep trying to think about how nice it will be once we get there. No, you are not crazy at all...I feel your pain...Lacee

We are also leaving Weds, my coworkers are saying they know I will be driving them nuts tomorrow and plan on telling the boss they are shoving me out the door early!

I dont think ladydancer is talking about the fear of leaving something behind!

I also suffer from "OMG, why did I plan this trip, I cant go I am too nervous" syndrome. This is the 3rd trip I have planned and it happens EVERY time. I very much enjoy the planning. I very much enjoy WDW, but actually getting there makes me

It is called anxiety disorder. What can you do about it? Well, just deal with it I guess. Of course you could go to the DR and have him give you some anti-anxiety meds but for me that did not work, I just have to work through it. I had a May trip planned with just DH and I and I had to cancel it due to "excessive anxiety" Well, I am not letting it get the best of me this time, I cant disappoint the kids!!

You will be fine, take a deep breath and think of all the fun you will have at WDW. Watch the video or look at pictures.

Let us know how you do!

You are exactly right! Everything you said describes me! I do have meds from the dr. and will be taking them for the flight. Now that I think about it maybe I should start taking them today.

Thanks everyone, this is helping me calm down a bit. I also went to the gym this morning to work off my anxiety. That helped too. I just need to keep busy. That is probably why I'm here.

I get nervous the last couple of days, too. You're going to have a magical trip, though, I'm sure of it!

I always try to cut out the caffeine right before a trip too! That way I am more able to control my anxiety. And try to eat! It is hard for me when I am nervous, but otherwise your adrenaline kicks in to keep you going. Take a deep breath, and imagine all the fun you are going to have!:jumping1:

You know I'm calm until it's time for us to leave before our flight. Then I go haywire. If our flight is at 5pm we leave the house around 1230pm-1:00pm. Why??? Has anyone ever drove the 495 beltway here in MD, DC, & VA. At any given moment a 20 minute airport ride to BWI on 295 (BWI Parkway) can turn into a 2-3 hour airport ride. We have to take 495 to get to 295 and that is a nightmare! So we leave a cushin of time to leave so that we can go to Arundel Mills Mall grab a bit to eat, walk around for an hour or two, then head to BWI which is a 10 minute drive from Arundel Mills Mall. We then park the car in long term parking and stroll to the gates and security without rushing. It's more relaxing for us to leave super early and get stuck in traffic than at the last minute and get stuck in traffic...get what I'm saying? ;)

Then when we head to airport we just kick back and think of all the fun we are are going to have and it seems to go away.Have a magical trip.::yes:: :wave2:

ladydancer,

We planned our WDW trip many months ago as you probably did. And I tend to freak out as the day to depart gets closer. I think about how much cash the trip will eventually cost and what else I "should" spend it on. You know, something sensible. But really, for what we are getting, I believe we both are getting good value for our Disney vacation buck. There is nothing like it in the world! Don't know if the financial end is a raw nerve with you, but I know it sure can be with me. So I do the math and that calms me down.

One other good tip is to make a written list of everything you want to bring or that you definitly don't want to forget. That sounds extreme I know but what peace of mind it gives me to check off those items as I put them in the suitcases. I leave home knowing I have everything. And it saves a lot of worry before you go too.

Remember, flying is fun! Deep cleansing breaths... Have a great trip!!!!

I am a nervous wreck right before my trips as well. My last trip I stayed up until 4 am and got up at 6am to leave for WDW because I was still getting everything ready. I must have pulled everything out of the suitcases four times and counted how many shorts, shirts, etc. I packed against my packing list. Once I get to WDW all the worrying magically goes away! ;)

We travel often and I used to be that way too. I have cut out anxiety by doing a few simple things. First of all, I am usually packed up 5 days before departure date. From traveling so often I have the packing routine down to a science, so I have learned once this task is done I can relax. After I am packed I start taking care of the house (empting the fridge, laundry, etc..) The day before we go is a complete relaxation day - hair, nails pedicure, massage, go out for an early dinner. I always have our travel clothes set up and our luggage at the front door for the limo the night before, so all we have to do is sleep and shower and we are off. I also have the limo driver pick us up 2.5 hours before flight departure, this way I know our luggage is on the flight, we check in, pass thru security and have a bite at the airport before boarding the plane- completely stress free.

I have also found the more you travel the less stressed you get, after a while it becomes second nature - like getting in your car.

Don't worry about trying to remember to pack everything when going to WDW. there is nothing you cannot get there - it's not like going to a remote island. Relax and Enjoy! Life is too short and vacations are even shorter!

I too have been packed for a few days now. Today was suppose to be my relaxing day as we are leaving tomorrow.

I was going to go to the mall w/my daughter and her 2 young kids to spend a little time with them before I leave tomorrow. Then go for a manicure and pedicure and just relax. Meet my dil half way between her house and mine @ 5:00 to get my older granddaughter who is going to WDW with me.

I got a call last night from my dil, there car broke down. So I need to pick her up from school @ 2:30. So I have to leave my house by 1:30 to go get her as it is a long drive. So now I have no time for a manicure and a pedicure.

Also while I'm at the mall my dh calls and say's he's having "chest pains". I asked him when did they start and he say's this morning when he woke up. I asked him why he didn't tell me this morning? He doesn't want to bother me, he say's. I'm more upset because he didn't think it was important enough to tell me. He had a heart attack a few years ago.

So now I'm more stressed than ever! I don't know it he pulled a muscle at work yesterday or he is having a heart attack He say's it hurts between his chest and his left arm. He took a nitro pill but he says he still feels the same. This is the first time he has ever taken a nitro pill so were not sure how he is suppose to feel.

So now I don't know what to do. I have to leave in about 20 minutes to pick up my granddaughter from school. I'm not sure if I should go to WDW or stay home.

I'm going to have an anxiety attack!

First things first.....your husband must go to the ER and rule out a heart attack....your dil should have rented a car or taken a cab in this situation, that is a lot to ask, honestly, the day before you are going away....it is not your responsibility. It's too bad their car broke down, but what would they have done if you were not available???

I would not cancel your trip until you know for sure about your husband. Do not just go without finding out as flying can be dangerous.

Your husband could also be having panic anxiety attacks, as they have the same symptoms.

I hope all is well and you have a wonderful vacation.

DH isn't going with us. It's just me and the 2 kids. He did call his cardiolist office. They said if it seems bad get medical attention. Now he thinks he pulled a muscle. I'm hoping that is all it is.

I did manage to get a manicure and pedicure. When I picked up my granddaughter she had a lot of homework because of missing school so I took her with me and she did her homework while waiting.

As I was getting my manicure and pedicure my cell phone kept ringing but I couldn't get a good signal. I saw it was a call from home. All I could do was worry if the call was about dh.

Turns out it was my other dil wanting me to watch the kids until my son got home from work because her sister's 1 year old daughter got 3rd degree burns from a fireplace. She wanted to go to the hospital.

Yesterday, my dil same sister was babysitting and the little girl she sits for, fell down the stairs. She is in critical condition in the hospital. I've been so upset about the little girl too. I have been praying for her.

I feel like the sky is going to fall next.
