Hi all! I've been trying to figure out what to do about my upcoming September trip. Basically, my friend & I are taking our 2 kids (both 5yo), and we usually take our strollers when we go to Disney. However, this time we are driving down, and my friend ALWAYS takes waaaay too much CRAP! :furious: No matter how much I warn her beforehand, she does not listen. So, our vehicle is always packed to the gills! Anywho, we don't have room to take our strollers this time, and someone on the Budget Board posted that they recently saw a post here on the Family Board that someone was offering to leave their double stroller behind when they left. I hate that they don't offer the stroller swap anymore, but I can understand that it must have been quite difficult to keep up with. If anyone is thinking about taking a stroller (any size!) and leaving it at Disney, we'll be arriving Sept. 22nd and would LOVE to take it off of their hands!!! :teeth: I've even thought about taking my stroller and doing the same, but we won't even have the room to cart it down there! :sad2:

Have a Disney day!!! :sunny: :wizard:

Can you fit just a cheap umbrella stroller? They're usually only $15-$20 and fold up pretty small!

buying a couple of cheap ones(like around $10 a piece) when you get down there would be cheaper than rent one everyday. If you can fit them into the car for the trip back, well then all the better and if not well they were still cost effective.

I have umbrella strollers, and even a small/medium stroller that I've taken to Disney before. The problem there is that it becomes hard to push around a 5yo (even though she is underweight!), a small cooler and usually a bag of 'necessities', because of the combined weight. That's why I would need to rent a double stroller, mostly because of the small cooler & bag. I'm still thinking on it, I just don't know what to do.

Now, I'm kicking around the idea of buying another stroller down there. However, is there a good stroller for a 5yo that's 38 lbs., that has a decent basket, reclines, and folds into a decent size? I'd love to hear any recommendations. The ones that you can rent down there, just didn't look very sturdy to me. Please help!

This site Allearsnet.com has pictures of the park rental strollers. They are very sturdy. I have seen an adult napping in a parked double once!

Or maybe you could get a cheapo umbrella and just rent a locker for your stuff? Just a thought...

Sorry for the confusion, the park strollers are sturdy! I was actually talking about the ones you can rent from a company down there for your entire stay. They had pictures online, but they weren't that impressive. Even with me taking my monster stroller last year, and it breaking down as I got off the monorail, it just makes me concerned about taking a flimsy thing. I had planned to rent a park stroller, but I really need to have one outside of the parks, since she usually naps during shopping trips, and on the way back to the room, after a long day at the park.

Renting a locker IS a good idea! Does anyone have any idea how much they are? I would just hate going back to the locker, anytime that I needed something.

Also, I just read a post about joining 2 umbrella strollers together. Has anyone done that, how feasible is it?? :confused3

Thanks for the help!!! :sunny:

I have 2 DD's 4 and 6. Both are small. My oldest is 38lbs. They do not use strollers anymore and we got rid of the ones that we had . We stop at Walmart on our first day at WDW to pick up snacks, water etc. We purchased two pooh unbrella strollers for about $14.00 each. They had a canopy and worked just fine to meet our needs. When the trip was over we found a family checking in and offered them to the family. It is a pain to bring on the monorail, buses and cart around, but we saved some money and any bit of savings helps!

I took this tip from the Unofficial Guide. Stop at the Walmart and pick up some cheapie umbrella strollers for about $10 a piece. As we were leaving we gave them to a family checking in, and asked them to do the same when they left!
You said your GF overpacks, but maybe you need to "pare down" a little. By the time mine were 5 they REFUSED to ride in a stroller "That's for babies!" Get a good backpack for the things you NEED to carry.
...and why on earth are you schlepping around a cooler?

The cooler is necessary so that I don't waste my dd's drinks that I buy her, and I get tired of letting her drink sodas. And she doesn't love apple juice, so I pretty much have to bring my own! That's why I schlepp a cooler around, for convenience, financial and health reasons! ;)

Going stroller shopping tomorrow! Can't wait!! :Pinkbounc

I took two umbrell strollers the last time we wnt & used the connectors to join them together & they worked great. I was really glad I had brought them with me.

Hi - that would be me :wave2:

I hated the idea of paying $18 a day for a rental stroller when I was able to get one off of Craigslist for a great price. Plus being able to offer it to others to enjoy on their vacation seemed like a great idea. I hope more people join in on it in order to keep it going :thumbsup2 Sorry that it won't be available for your trip (maybe next time :) )

Given your situation, I would recommend going to Walmart and getting 1 or 2 cheap umbrella strolelrs after you arrive! They do sell clips to put umbrella strollers together (although I don't know if they sell them at Walmart.) I would look into getting one of those before you go so you know you have it in case they don't sell them (I'm pretty sure most Toys R Us or Babies R us sell them.)
