I think the question should have more information.

Ditto. I have no idea what the question means.

Yes...that is how I feel....very confused by the question. :confused3

I may be reading too much into this but lets also remember gender has nothing to do with sexual orientation if that is what you were referring to. My OBGYN was female but also a lesbian. Gender does not equal knowledge to me.

This is kind of a strange question.

I'm female and in general I'd rather have a female doctor, particularly a female GYN.

In general, I'm not a big fan of the medical profession. Yes, we need them, but I've met very few I like as people or as doctors. Having watched several members of both dh's and my families go through med school, I think something character changing (and not in a good way) happens to a lot of them.

However, a few years back I had breast cancer. I had a female surgeon and radiation oncologist who are the best--warm, down to earth, genuinely human and technically superb. I have a male medical oncologist, and he is also a wonderful human being and a top rate doctor. If given a choice, I never would have picked a male oncologist for breast cancer treatment, but this guy is terrific and I would have made a mistake passing him up for a female doc.

Is Bicker being intentionally vague? He usually isn't the type to not give enough information so I am thinking the vagueness is intentional?

I don't like voting without knowing all the info, so I haven't voted yet. But my general opinion is I don't get hung up on gender. So if someone wants a certain gender, they can't expect the receptionist to be a mindreader they must ASK.

As a man, I much prefer a female Dr. I haven't had too many "guy" specific issues to face at this point, but I suspect I'd rather have a female Dr. when I have to deal with that, too.

No, I don't think female doctors should only see female patients. I think everyone should be able to choose if they want a male or female doctor. I don't care which one I have normally, but do prefer a female gynecologist.

I have a male doctor and I love him. My dentist is female so I guess it all balances out in the end

I don't think this... I am a female nurse practitioner and I see men and women...

Never. Everyone should be able to choose based on preference.

I voted never. I'm looking for the best, don't care if it's a male or a female. I'm not looking for a date, I'm looking for expert medical treatment.

Count me as another person who doesn't understand the question. I said in the other poll I prefer a male Gyn because it seems males are more careful with the equipment but that is MY preference, it's not a hard and fast rule just an impression based on my own experience. Sort of how I prefer tan color as a car interior because it seems it doesn't get as hot in the sun as dark interiors. However, if you are saying that there should be some form of institutionalized segregation along gender lines due to some as yet unnamed rationale then I think the idea is beyond ridiculous, my answer is then a resounding no.

I avoid female doctors at all costs. I prefer to see male doctors for everything. People should see whomever they feel most comfortable with.

I couldn't care less whether any kind of doctor is male or female. I just want someone reasonably nice who seems to know what he or she is doing.

I call to make an appointment, they tell me who is available and I accept whomever they say is avaiable first. I assume this is the same for both sexes.

I never gave much thought to this. I have always had male doctors, always for me since I was a kid and for my kids. I did want a female OB/GYN and while I did like her very much, in an emergency a male delivered my DD11 and I loved him. I went back to the female doctor who delivered DD8 but was disapointed in the delivery and after left to have him be my doctor and will never leave him, he's wonderful. So 100% of the doctors we use are men and our house is 80% femals. I go to who we click with, I guess so far it has been mostly men but it was not intentional.
